Crawldaddy, That would be cool to meet up and have a look at how you set your 4runner up.
My number is 435-213-3217 ask for Skylar
Give me a call or let me know your number so we can meet up and have a look.

On the assumption that all Aisin R-series transmissions have the same bellhousing bolt patterns, a 7M-GTE or 7M-GE will bolt directly onto a R-15X transmission, as that all M series engines have the same bellhousing bolt patterns, and all 7M-GTE manual transmission cars (87-92 Supra) came with R-154. I can't varify this, but I have read that the R-154 has an identical case to all other R-15X transmissions, only differing in the gear ratios and tailshaft section. 7M to R-154 bellhousings are pretty ubundant in the Supra community.
The 1JZ-GTE, 2JZ-GTE, and 2JZ-GE are technically the same deal as an M series in terms of bolting to transmissions. Because the JZ series all have the same bolt patterns, and at some point came with an A series auto transmissions and R series manuals. The 1991 and 1992 Supra came with a 1JZ-GTE and an R-154 mated together in a manual iteration. The Toyota Aristo (AKA IS300 here, I think), had an A340E transmission. In any case, it's not hard to aquire these bellhousings to adapt to transmissions of the same model series. JZ to R bellhousings are in short supply and high demand.
The 2JZ motor is longer than a 7M by an inch or two. Also, to use a 2JZ and an R series transmission, you'll be looking for a 1JZ flywheel and clutch. Also, all the cast iron I6 toyota engines are heavy sonsofbitches. I'd suffer putting a 1UZ in and save 150lbs and spend a few hundred more on adaptor plates.
