2000 long block into 1998

SO ive got a lead on a $500 25k 3.4 from a 2000 4runner. its just the long block. Whats the chances of this working in my truck(98 4runner 3.4 4x4/5spd), w/my wire harness/ecu?

I guess i could always buy sep wire harness/ecu for it...

Im trying to determine if its EGR or not as mine is not, nor r my new DT headers..Are 2ks dual cats?

engines from 4x4 rigs have different oil pans right?
what else?

Here is what you have worry about with the donor long block.

*crickets chirp*

Thats right, nothing. You will have to swap your wiring, and ecu, and probably some sensors, but other than that the engines are 100% the exact same.

HOWEVER!! If this is a Japanese crate engine, you are on your own.

If not, then just switch some things over and drive. 2WD and 4WD 4Runners use the exact same oil pan, since 2wd 4runners are technically just 4wd delete.

They will be the same motor. I don't think they use an EGR.

Well i believe cars that were Ca. spec have EGR. Thats why when you order Doug Thorley headers for a 98 you have to first select EGR/no EGR. ie., URDs site.

thx for the responses!

Theres usually a group buy going on...Search customtacos..i think the last GB paid $550 ...URD will match $.

As u see EGR headers are more $.

Anyway to make an EGR engine non-EGR?
