Recovery/Tow strab brands?
#1
Ok so I'm looking at getting acouple of good quality recovery straps and I'm simply overwhelmed by the number of brands and prices. I'm not looking to buy more of that crap they sell at Shucks (Keeper I belive). It works but only for a few tows before it breaks.
I want to spend the money on a good one that I know won't break when I really need it.
So what are some good brands? I know ARB is always a good choice, but I would rather get at least one in a 30 foot length.
Any places I can get a good price on acouple of choker chains too? I found 2 websites, one wanted $90 and the other wanted $110 that seemed a bit steep to me for 10 feet of chain and acouple of hooks. I mean I could go to home depot and make some for less than that.... heh. And I just might.
Thoughts?
I just realized I put "strab" and not strap heh.

Apparently, the ARB one isn't all that great ...

I use a ProComp, but it's probably not much better than the ARB. The Wheelers Offroad ones look nice.
As for chain, I got grade 70 transport chain with hooks at Tractor Supply. I think 16' was $50 maybe (?)

Too bad they don't have any from here in the states. Still informative though.

Well, I read this and was sold. Course I already bought a different one.
Wheeler's offers the highest quality certified tow and tree straps that are made in the USA. Our tow strap is 3"X30' and has a reinforced loop on both ends. The tree straps are 3"X12' and have a loop on both ends. The straps have certification tags and are great for competition or recreational use. The tow strap is continuous duty rated at a whopping 13,500 lbs, the material itself is rated at 27,000 lbs. The material we use has a slight recoil action; it absorbs the initial shock and then recoils, popping your vehicle loose without the shock and danger associated with chains and steel cable. This has got to be the ultimate tow strap at a very good price. Used by the US Military!!

I cant remember the name of mine but its SWEET! 2inch wide and 25feet long with no hooks. you weave it back through and it holds! I watched a friend in his S/c taco rip a tahoe out of 3 feet of snow....when i say rip i mean he was at the top of 1st in 4wheel pinned and the tahoe came up(front tires in the air) and out of the snow drift! no slipping or brakeage and it wont smash a window i already tried it out on a parts car.

i just got a no-name 2" x 30' one at my local 4wp and it has worked perfectly every time i've needed it. if you get wider than 2", its a bonus if the loops on the end are folded over to make them skinnier (yet just as strong) so you can stuff it in your trailer hitch receiver with a pin and use that as a recovery point.
