Cool What shock length to run?

Hey yt, I was just wondering what kinda shock lengths you guys run offroad. My truck has ford springs in the front and a 3 link rear. I was looking through a catalog at napa and found that 13 inches of travel is the longest they had. They were about 20 bucks a piece with lifetime warranty. I know they prolly suck, just wanting something under there temporary, maybe for about a year. You guys think i'd be ok with it or hate it? The truck will mostly be used on trails and very rarely rocks. Thanks!

Flex it out and measure. Everyone's application is going to vary.

it really depends on your truck. but, the easiest way is to flex your sespension out with a fork lift ETC messure the distance from shock mount to shock mount on both sides, that will tell you what leangth you need compressed and extended. try not to get ones that are too short, bottoming out and overextending them is a good way to trash them in short order.. good luck man!

Just make sure you unbolt the shocks you have on there now.. Depending on how much down travel you have, you might find a shock that it's collapsed length is too long yet lets you to full droop. This is where you will have to move your shock mounts more and tilt the shocks some. Like this: / \ . But the more you tilt them, the less effective they will be on the street to control body roll.
