I'm pretty sure the stock steering isn't going to work. The 85 used a push/pull setup IIRC.

You can use whatever springs you like you just need to make sure they are the right length and height for your application. Why do you want a skyjacker lift kit specifically? I would imagine just buying the springs from Marin or Trail gear would be cheaper. Maybe not?

If your trying to save money you could always do a low steer setup like this

how much does low steer setup cost. well skyjacker lift kit i can get leaf springs front and rear i need new ones for the rear anyway i have a cracked leaf in both and they lost the arch and it also comes with shocks. and i was just wanting to use the tie rods from an 85 i would think they would be long enough

why not get a trail-gear SAS kit? it has EVERYTHING you need... big break up grade, hi-steer, springs, brake lines, shocks, etc etc etc.

i am a trail-gear dealer... PM me for pricing.

Not sure if anybody sells a kit I've only seen people make the steering arm by welding a piece of another steering arm on to the stock steering arm. I'll try and find a pic to help explain

Your only saving money by not buying high steer arms but you still have to buy all the other steering junk.

Here is a link to the thread on PBB about low steering

Good luck on your build and I hope I this helps you.

Nobody makes those low steer crossover steering kits anymore because hi-steer is better and doesn't cost any more. The SAS kit from Front range is designed to use a slightly longer than stock spring and it moves the axle forward about 1". Skyjacker springs are made to be stock replacement lift springs for 79-85 trucks. Most likely your shackle angle will be wrong. The stock j-arm steering will only work for lifts springs 3" or less. Even then they are sloppy compared to crossover.

i def wouldnt recc the skyjacker springs, too stiff. i'd go with marlin, all pro, or trail gear.

edit:i've seen a driveshaft spacer at 4crawler.com but idk if it is worth buying, mabye other members with more experience can chime in?

When you do a SAS and lift an IFS Toyota 3"+ you will need the high cross over steering, you can reuse your IFS steering box but need to remount it with plating the frame, and you will need to lenghthen both the d-shafts, but the front especially as it will not even be long enough to connect anymore (need a longer slip spline).
