To SAS or not to SAS? That is the question

I gotta 87 runner with one REAL bad upper control arm bushing and another thats getting ready to go. After going around to 4 shops they all want between 800 bucks and a grand to replace the bushing.

I've got an 85 PU with a blown motor, its also got histeer and 14" shock hoops and ext steel brake lines and some other stuff.

The way I figure it. Steve at Sonoran Steel will weld a hanger and the frame tubes for 300 bucks the trailgear hanger kit and springs will come to about 350 and I can strip everything off my other truck if I need it. I could even upgrade to IFS calipers and rotors for 80 bucks.

Breakdown
welding 300
hanger kit 150
3" lift springs 200
IFS Rotors for SFA 80

est. total 730

70 bucks less than to repair my IFS

Okay, only trouble is for some reason I'm nervous about doing it. I've been reading about doing this swap for 2 years and its pretty freaken simple, pull and cut the IFS crap, clean up the frame, attach springs, attach axle to springs, hook up steering, plumb brakes, shocks, driveline and Go. Right?

I don't know, I need a kick in the ass or something. I'll be on my own as well as I havent been able to hook up with any wheelers since I moved to Tucson the lack of buddies factor may have a roll in this. I don't know.
