MY first toyota project solid axle swap (please help)
Hi am 15 i got my toyota over someone thinking that they cross threaded a spark plug one tap and die later i have a 1991 toyota sr5 with 250,000 miles iam planing on putting a 4.3 bowtie in it and i really dont thile the independant front suspentinon
iam not motor dumb or mechanicly challenged like some pepole
but i wanna kno what kind of front end i shud use iam looking for a full locking setup
and i kno for shure iam bobbing my bed 15 inches
so if anyone has any imput or idesa that would be tight

i wanna make this lil red yota a big primer and bedliner unstoppable tank

I would seriously take it one step at a time. I have been down many roads with my toyota and wasted alot of money, but gained a ton of knowledge about my truck. Do you want to remain a dialy driver? Depending on what your plans are, it will change my input that you asked for... be back later

Mine is a 91 SR5 Xtra Cab
SAS conversion

Using a 1st Gen Toyota axle with a Hi-Steer and I used the old front frame of the doner truck for spring hangers up front and made my own shackle hangers.
4.3 Chevy conversion

Using a 96 Vortec engine with an Edelbrock 4bbl intake and 525cfm Demon Carb. I had to do several mods and use aftermarket parts to get it running, but it works pretty darn good. Gas mileage is not great, but could be worse.

Can't come to terms with a bed bobbing...I just hate to waste good usable space and I do not rock crawl with my truck, so the overhang is not such a big deal.

ya thanks guys well it wont be a daily driver for long because i crashed my dirt bike n broke my foot so ive had to many ER trips on my bike and iam going to trade it for a camero or 2wd yota i want the camero more but if i trade for the yota i will hav lots of build cash

hopefully your fab work isnt like your spelling.
just use a toyota front axle. throw in a locker if you want, build it break it and learn. you dont have to cut the front end off a solid axle truck, its not any stronger and just more work. Build or buy a front hanger. If you dont need a bed, why bob it at all? just build a flatbed for it.

You're only 15 man, thats a lot of money we're talking here, even if you do your own fab stuff. I plan on doing a SAS to my truck, locked front and rear and I've estimated over 5k in parts alone and that price doesnt even include any type of motor work/parts or wheels and tires. So if you're a good little worker/saver or have rich parents I wish you the utmost of luck!

That is a lot of cash, I couldn't come up with cash like that when I was 15 let alone to stay in my pocket for more then a few weeks. Now it all goes to school, bills, food, and the girl friend (she like the same things I do so I don't feel bad when I get a new gun). Still welcome to yt.

I have a 91 land cruiser axle on my 91 4runner, I think high steer and when I bought my truck it turns out the guy that sold it to me had a smaller front passenger side drive shaft so I don't really have 4x4 its rwd. I have manual locking hubs in the front but can not get them off the axle... Does anyone know where to get schematics or something.
