John's SAS!

Overall Cost: ~$2100
We used:
83 Toy axle
trail gears kit with 4" springs and 12" shocks
IFS hub swap
square drive shaft
Sky's Axle Truss
Quick Lok Locker
Genuine 4.88's

Let me just say that with the kit, the hardest thing was getting the axle built with the gears, locker, braces, and IFS hubs. As far as the fab work and installation, I was very impressed with how easy and straight forward it was.

Now for the pics!

Day one, Get the IFS off!

Fully rebuilt, IFS hub swap, 4.88's, quick lok, sky's truss, red paint, and worn 34's. Sexy.

This is the IFS exterminator we hired.

End of day 1.5 - IFS, what IFS?

John is actualy getting ready to start an on-the-side modeling career. Cool huh?

Is that centered?

Burn baby burn!

Toyotas always look better bathed in the blue light of an arc don't you think?

Unfortunatly I went home after these were taken and when I came back to partake in part two, I forgot the camera. :pat:
So we will have pics of the finished product soon.

As it sits now in John's garage, the only thing we don't have is a driveshaft. Also the hard brake lines coming out of the calipers are going to get shortened.

So hey Jon, what is happening with the truck? Did you really get the shaft built? What about the brake lines?

Finnaly got back over to Jon's and got some pics. Unfortunatly, there wasn't anything convenient around to flex on. Here are some pics of the finished product.

Next weekend Jon is coming wheeling with Ric and I so we will have some good shots of the performance soon.

Jon, tell 'em how it rides...

You forgot the cost of additional black paint to cover that black again.

Those swampers have plenty of life in them, invest in a $60 groover and go to town.

Cinder blocks are not made to support loading in the manner/direction you were using them and can simply catastrophically fail. Please go out and buy some proper length jackstands or tell your buddy to before something very bad happens. I'd hate to see someone off Yotatech next year win the Darwin award and not be alive to accept it.

Nice build.

Looks like another case of a Newbie digging up an old thread....
But the point made by everyone is a Valid Point about the cinder blocks..Like Brian said, candidate for the Darwin Awards. 8x8x16 blocks crumble in a hardbeat...

since this thread was resurrected would be cool to see some pictures of the truck in action...
