how much it is going to cost me to sas my truck?

well I am trying to figure out how much it is going to cost me to sas my truck and I got every thing acounted for except the drivelines. Do I need to do any thing to the stock rear drive line with a 5 inch TG lift? Can I just have the front drive line extended at a drive line shop or do I have to buy an aftermarket one? If I need aftermarket then where do I buy one?

Yeah thats what I figured about $3200. Because all I would need to do is have the front drive line extended right? The stock rear driveline would be ok????

Usually the rear shaft will be fine, depending on how much droop the new spring have. Front shaft will likely need to be lengthened, the CV joint clearanced for more angle and a longer slip yoke installed. Might contact HighAngleDriverline.com or see if your local shop can do that work for you. I think I paid about $300 for my front shaft to be rebuilt like that, although that was about 6 years ago, costs may be higher now.

or you can go with a cheap and easy square pipe front shaft.

I had to extend my rear shaft but I moved the rear axle back 3.5". The stock slip yoke is fine in the back.

The front needs a longspline kit for sure. Because the front 3rd is offset, when the pass tire droops all the way out I used 6-8" of slip. Plus the front axle swings away from the t-case. definatly a long spline kit. I also suggest a u-joint for the front, operates at steeper angles before binding, andworks better with a flat pinion angle....

Well this isn't really related, but it's my dumb question. Has anyone used Spidertrax housing in their SAS. I was thinking of using it for my 93 4Runner. thanks

Not realistic at all. A welder costs more than $300.

I spent about 3K with mine, that includes the front and rear kit, front axel, gears for front and rear, locker for the front and front drivline... You will not be able to use your front driveshaft. As someone said earlier, the double cardan joint won't give the angle that you are going to need. I decided to go with a new set-up.

This one also balanced so I will be able to 4wd high if needed and not vibrate my teeth out. I hope this helps.

People do own welders. People don't usually buy one just for the fact that theyre gonna sas and then never weld anything else again. 3k if you pay a shop to do it is more realistic. whatever I dont care

BirFAILed.

$300 is completely unrealistic for probably 99.99% of the folks that SAS. This is assuming you already have a shop full of tools, get a bunch of junk yard or FREE parts, make all your own brackets and have free labor.

Free labor? As in "do it yourself". Right? You know as well as I do that the 3 major parts are, the front hanger, shackles, and hoops. Bam, ready for an axle and leafs. A front drivleline can be fabbed pretty well in a dudes garage at home. Oh, almost forgot, about my name. Went to longs, and started blowin diffs, I have to have a full cromo 60 under my rig now. So ya, Birfs Failed!

Yeah guys, seriously, wheres all your money even goin? I know another guy that sas's AND runs a full, hub to hub, bobby long toy axle for much less than 3k. The money needs to go into the axle itself. Puttin the axle under the truck is the cheap part.

I just saw 69 land cruiser axles for 200. Would that work? And then just add SAS kit right?

2 shops around here quoted me 1000 when i was first looking, and square shaft cost me about $20 in tube and 3hr of my time. The swap will cost more of course if you do longfeilds and such
