Doesn't look at all like a high pinion to me.
Only 5 lugs too. Wierd. With no factory truss it looks like a 79-80 mini truck housing

Calipers mounted on top..steering arm looks like it was cut off on d/s. P/s arm looks welded..dunno
unless it was free I would probably pass

The owner can't tell you exactly what it is?

Looks like it was a spring under. Leaf perches on the bottom, look at the drain plug and breather.

Land cruiser maybe?

the long axle side of that looks really long. Too long?

just running off memory, I feel like my third has more bolts holding it in.

Bolted on hubs, no studs. Cone washers, who knows?

Maybe it was from under one of the 77-78 wolverine 4x4 conversions? those would be 5 bolt wouldn't they?

To many variables and rust. Pass unless its $20

I was thinking Wolverine too, but thought they were spring over.

Post 14 in this thread shows a 5 lug axle with auto hubs.

Good thing you did, I am pretty sure that is a zuk axle, not a Toyota.

Not sure. I thought I read that the auto hubs were an option on 84/85. I'm guessing probably 84

Look at the truss on the bottom of the axle. 85 went all the way past the drivers leaf perch, 84 trussed stopped in in the middle of it.

That's a Suzuki samurai axle. Almost made the same mistake earlier this year. You can tell the Toyota solid axles by the gusset that is factory welded on the bottom side. 79-83 is a short gusset and 84-85 gusset goes from third member all the way to the hub

I'll get a better pic of it when I get home...
question now is what's the deal with these auto hubs? Definitely not gonna use them. Thinking about using my ifs hub instead. But I read there isnt a 54mm nut on the end. Maybe I read that wrong.

Close. 83 was first year of gusset, 84 gusset goes to the middle of the spring perch, 85 it goes all the way past the perch.

You can use your IFS hubs, but youll need the conversion gear to get them on the solid axles 30 spline shaft. Not sure on the conversion from auto hubs though.

Heres a good write up on getting rid of the auto hubs.

Are you sure? Because I have two 81s and they both have the short gusset. I know they are original also.
