Well i never really thought that i would have gone this route but i think it will be for the better over any ifs lift or lt suspension out there.

So heres the scoop. as the title says i have a 93 pickup extended cab and am doing a sas on it. Im still putting the money together for the rest of the peices and tires so dont get to angry when you dont see me flexin for a bit.

The plan is to do a 4" ifs eliminator kit from all pro along with their 4" lift in the back. trd e-locker front and rear, trussed 84 axle, front diff armor and gusseted balls, 12 volt guys e-locker harness and switch, and 35 x 12.5 mickey thompson MTZ on 15x8 steel wheels. oh and with 5.29 gears.

I cant wait to wheel this when its done!!

Both diffs will be set up tomorrow and from there the front axle gets modded. I'll keep you guys posted.

This is my first sas so let me know if somethins screwy or any suggestions will be appreciated.

So ive heard differnt ways to do this but i still dont know witch way. when i weld the truss on the axle do i need to have the diff inside the housing? ive also heard that it doesnt matter if you just go slow. any thoughts?

 

well i talked to all pro and like i thought it doesnt matter if you have the diff in or out when you weld the armor and truss on, just make sure you go slow

 

i also ran into a small snag on my differentials. 1st time was a missing locker bearing, now today is for what ever reason the two flanges are different so i have a triple drilled flange on the way.

 

you can also redrill a flange yourself....put the correct DS end on your pinion flange, rotate so holes are not close and drill yourself...saves $$$$

edit: also be sure to stitch weld the axle armor on, don't wanna warp your housing

 

the holes on the flange isnt my problem, it was that the pinion that i got didnt fit the flange. the flange would freely turn on the pinion so didnt do me any good to use that flange.

So i got the armor welded on and the steering limit plates from the ball gusset kit and started modding the axle housing for the locking diff. the place thats been setting up my diffs noticed that one was standard cut while the other was reverse so have to wait for new gears.

 

still no progress so some pics of the truck before all this happens.



Who hates ifs? I DO! I DO!

 

i know its been a long time since my last post so i thought i would fill you guys in. The diffs are finally put together in the right order and i have the axle prepped for drilling the holes for the elocker studs.

quick question how do you guys find the easiest way of getting grease and dirt off of the axle short of sandblasting?

also i havent ever heard this mentioned what do you guys do for recovery points on the front?

 

I found the best way to remove all the grease and decades of dirt is to use a wire wheel on a grinder. But be prepared to be covered in all of that gunk that was on the axle.

 

Purple power is the sheet too....

thanks for the advice, i was told bake parts cleaner helps a lot but it didn't do as much as i hoped

 

engine degreaser works good..

cant wait in a few years when i sas my hilux..

solvent or meguiars degreaser it the pink looking soultion. that thing eats anything and makes your hands slimy so you kno it working. i used that to clean my front axel and it looks good well after i had it sandblasted to lol

 

well heres the finished axle minus the wheel spacers and such.



and the elocker for the rear ready and willing

 

also ordered my tires and wheels today. got 35x12.5 bfg km2's and they will be mounted on a black rock crawler rim (similar anyways) should be here by the end of the week or first thing of next.

 

Monday is the big day. i threw a grenade under the front of the truck and blew the ifs off.
(or so i wished) spent most the day with the truck on jack stands while on a flat bed pulling all of the components out from under. Christmas comes early this year!!!!
