93 p/u sas

Alright. So I'm starting this thread anew because my last thread was more of an "in preparation for the sas" post. So, now that is all out of the way, I'll put in some basic info and post the pics (or try to, my laptop died so I'm trying this via iPhone.

93 Toyota Pickup DLX, 3.0, auto, ext cab, 236k miles on the clock. She was an everyday driver for 4-5 years, I've been collecting parts for almost two years, and working on the axle for months. Last week we started to put it all together. 4" lift SAS kit from WabFab.

81 axle with new armor.

4.88's, open diff in the front for now.

Axle ready.

Buh-bye IFS

Initial cuts.

Cleaned up.

Spring hanger tacked in.

Bushings welded in.

Axle in.

Shock hoops and braces tacked.

How she sits at the moment. Rear diff at another shop getting 4.88s and a detroit. Rear kit on it's way now. Got a heck of a deal on tires: 35x12.50 BFG M/T KM2's shipped to the door for $850.

So, that's where I am now! Looking forward to getting some response on how it looks. Thanks to everyone at YT for the knowledge and inspiration, especially Brian at WabFab.

Since you have a set of v6 calipers sitting there, pick up a set of vented FJ rotors and get rid of the stock 1st gen rotors you have on your front axle.
Running 35's you'll want all the braking helP you can get

Edit: also gonna need a new front drive shaft-longer splines, the T-G springs flex pretty good. You are gonna enjoy it.

Thanks for the suggestion man, but the SAS kit came with vented FJ rotors. They're already on there.

Thanks. Started with the sawzall to get the bulk out, then used a plasma cutter for everything else.

I believe it's discounttiredirect.com. If you call them, you can talk them down to $897 shipped, but if you find one of their ebay buy-it-now deals, you can get them for $850 shipped.

Yeah, the plasma cutter was crucial. Mine is an itty-bitty 220v unit. Cost about $700 I believe.

The lift is 4" in the leaves, and the shackles are 5" I believe. I think the lift ends up being 5-6" not counting the 35's.

So I had to come back to my hometown over the weekend for a wedding. Got a picture via text from my buddy whose garage my truck is in right now. I left there the other night frustrated with trying to remove the rear leaf springs/axle. I vowed to return after the weekend with a vengeance... I guess my buddy got tired of watching me struggle with it.

Yeah, they were basically rusted solid. My buddy just hacked it all off with a sawzall. Luckily, he marked the front brackets on the frame before hacking them off. Just checked UPS tracking and my rear kit should be delivered any moment now! Hopefully I can get the springs all hung tonight. I should have the rear diff back early next week and can reinstall, set the pinion angle, put the new spring perches on and put her back down on her own weight by the end of next week.

Other than that, gotta come up with a pitman arm puller and get that switched out, and address the steering box movement/reinforcement and clean everything up... getting closer!
