8in ring and pinion compatagbility question

This is my first post, hope its a good one for you guys and that you have the answer. I searched this forum, and could not find the info I am looking for. Also, I hope this is the correct sub forum, it seemed to be the best fit for what I am asking.

Long story short, I am wanting to run G series 8in ring and pinion gears in an A series 8in case. I know the ring gear and LSD will fit, as Powertrax lists the same part number LSD for both G series, and A series, both are 10 bolt ring gears, but a different bolt circle. The Powertrax is drilled for both and the carrier bearings mount in both cases. What I am not certain of is if the pinion gear will fit the case. I cant find definitive info on the shaft diameters and lengths, however I have confirmed they are both 27 spline. I "think" they use the same pinion bearings as I have seen diff install kits listed as the same part number for both series of gears, but even if this is true, I still need to know if the lengths are the same.

I want to run a Detroit True Trac lsd, but they do not make one for the A series 8in, only the G series 8in. So since I have to buy new gears anyway, if the G series will fit the case, I will just buy those. And no, I will not just swap the entire axle as I am not running solid axle, and the True Trac LSD will not fit in the G series IRS case, however it should fit the A series case as it is larger.

Thanks for reading and for your help!

What kind of vehicle do you have? Do you have a 4 cylinder or v6 3rd? Front or rear axle?

I have an 84 Toyota Supra, currently with the stock 7.5in IRS diff upgraded with a True Trac LSD for the front of a 89 4runner 7.5in diff with 3.73 gears(Was 4.30 gears stock). Diff I am planning to swap in is from a 92 Lexus SC300, but going to change to 4.30 gears and hopefully a True Trac LSD as i am changing from a 7mgte/r154 combo making a lil over 400rwhp to a 2jzgte/T56 magnum combo that should be ~600rwhp on 93 octane and ~800rwhp on E85..

Will gears from say an 89 4runner 8in rear diff fit in the 98 4runner rear diff?

The SC300/SC400/GS300/GS400/GS430/LS400/Non 6 speed 93-98 Supra all have the same A series 8in ring and pinion as the n96+ A series found in 4runners and other trucks(Though Not the Land Cruiser or Tacoma). They just happen to be IRS instead of solid axle. 200mm 10 bolt ring gears is what I am dealing with.

Edit: Still doing research on Google. The part number for the Pinion gear install kit is the same for both, so at this point I guess all I need to know is if the pinion shaft lengths are the same. If they are, then it'll work.

I Have swapped the lsd carrier from a mk3 supra into a v6 4runner housing. And my v6 gear set has been swapped into a 2000 elocker housing. but I am not sure the pinion length on the independant is the same as a solid rear axle. Does this help?

Independent and solid axle gears are the same. You can use solid axle gears in the IRS case and vice versa. That helps tremendously. Thank you! Looks like all I have to verify now is if the True Trac LSD fits the A series case, which I believe it will. I just haven't gotten a response from Eaton yet with the dimensions.
