89 4runner SAS too dang high

I have a trail gear kit installed, front hanger installed under support. no frenching. 5.5" hanger in the rear installed to trail gear instructions. trail gear 3" HD springs w/o overload. have not relocated the steering box to accommodate a flat pitman.

without rewelding the front hanger is there a way to lower the rig with different springs? bastard pack? etc. drill rear hanger to 4.5", 4" etc?

little crazy on the snow with the body roll and the light rear end.


Thanks for the help, mine seems much higher than most, having the same build up.
tires are 33" for comparison

The problem is the front spring hanger. I've actually removed two springs from each pack to bring it down until they settle a bit. Right now I'm fighting this horrible banging noise that I can't seem to locate.

have that frenched into the core support/crossmember thing? my high pinion front is already is not liking my angle with shims. after i do that can i drill the rear to 4" to compensate?

You can French it yes. Or build a different front hangar.

First off, I like your rig. Check my build thread in the sas forum(88_Red_Runner's tired of IFS). You might get some ideas. I would sell those front springs if you still have your factory rear springs. Are you shimming your front for caster angle or for the pinion angle? Drill the rear to 4"? Do you mean the shackle's? Post up some pictures of your front setup.

This photo is my setup. Rears up front, main 3 springs 88, 2 more 79-88 p/u springs cut down and underneath, and one cut 3 inches behind center pin added on top. Front hanger notched in 1.5 inches, and 4.5 inch eye to eye shackles. 14 inch 5150's for the shocks. Hope you don't mind me posting a picture in your thread.

I will get pics of my front end for you, I dont have the rears anymore. I also dont have my steering box mounted as far forward as you. I can not fit a straight pitman arm, i have the angled one from trail gear.

I may have to re weld that forward do i can get clearance. I am running 6* wedge shims up front.

front are TG 3"HD, removing 2 OL leaves, rear is a bastard pack of rears and helpers. once the front comes down i can remove and helper springs from rear to soften the ride.

Have you thought about pulling some leafs out of the front? If you did would your shocks need to be moved? The HD springs are pretty stiff from my experience....

Get bigger tires, then it wont look so tall.

They will settle a bit over time.

I like the idea of pulling a few leafs. They are the HD springs..

If its the body roll your upset with, not really the height, you could add a sway bar?
