87 4runner sas

I'm starting my sas on my 87 4runner. Today I began cleaning up my 83 axle. I am going to be using the 3in trail gear kit with 4.88 locked front and rear both with lockrights. Still not a 100 percent sure on how I'm going to lift the rear. Will try to get some pictures of progress in the next few days.

On a 4Runner typically go 1" higher in the rear, on a pickup go the same.

Not sure how you are going to lift the rear? Does that mean you are trying to decide between 3 link, 4 link and leaf springs?

Order from me and save the sales tax.

I'm planning on doing the rear with leaf springs just not sure if I'm going to go with longer leafs or leave it stock length.

Just to save money I was thinking 3in downey leafs with an add a leaf and then a 1 1/2 shackle lift

My camera isn't working so I cant show pics but the top half of the ball is pitted really and I don't know what to to do about it. Resurface?....or just leave it?

i would just try sanding it, mine had a little bit of that so i just sanded it. make sure when you rebuild it to use plenty of grease to keep the ball and the birf lubed up.

good luck on the build.

OK well I've used some sandpaper and touched it up with a soft wire wheel and I think I got it about as good as I can. Now I'm just having problems getting the axle oil seal out.

I usually use a giant flat head screwdriver.....jam it into the seal and pry it out....

You're putting a new one in anyways...good luck!

You aint trying hard enough! hit the screw driver with a bfh until it goes in then pry it out...the seal will be mangled by the time u get it out

Use a punch (or old screw driver) on one side of the seal and then another time 180 degrees away. Crinkle/fold the seal a bit by hitting these two points and then pull it out with pliers.
