what size tire do you plan on running? That is a big part of the lift you need. Is this a truck or 4runner? for 33'' tires, go with 3-4'' lift. I have 3'' up front and it is great. If you want to run 35'' tires, go with 5'' lift.

then a 5'' lift will be what you are looking for.

I would not get a 5" lift. I have a buddy running 36" tires and 5" springs. He's truck is TALL. Get 4" front and 5" rear max. If I had it to do over I'd go 3" front and 4" rear but that's just me.

The only thing I can think why I would go for 5's is I can always remove leafs to flatten them out no?

I ended up with Marlin 4" fronts and All-Pro 6" rears. This was upon Marlin's suggestion, as All-Pro (at the time) measured their springs differently. Generally, it's common to go 1" more on the rear to help offset some of the additional weight of the 2nd Gen 4Runner. To be honest, even with the 6" AP springs I could never get the tail end level.

I have 35's now, but may up to 37's when they wear out. I envision having to cut some sheet metal or mod with a BFH a little bit to get everything to work. Currently, I have almost no rubbing issue except at a full stuff and full turn... and even then only very minor.

This is a fake CRAWL layout I made a while back goofing around with some Adobe programs.... pretty ridiculous I know, but it does show the dimensions I ended up with pretty well:

Leaf spring lift depends on a lot of things as mentioned above.

I agree with Yotaman on springs.

I run 40s with a 5" lift but I have no sheet metal either.

somewhat off topic. Is there a difference in leafs between companies, ie: trail gear, marlin, all-pro? or are the kits all fairly similar?

Do some searching as it has been discussed ad nauseum but your options are limited in Canada with import fees.

Heres a general guideline to get started....

33-35" tires = 3 inch lift

35-37" tires = 4 inch lift

37'+ tires = 5 inch lift

Use sawzall. Cut to fit

and YES there is a huge difference in spring quality and rates between the different companies...I would recommend doing some research before you drop some serious coin

I would order marlins 4inch sas kit but have 5inch rear springs to compansate for the extra rear weight
that will allow you to run 35s or 37s with minor fender trimming and it will give a great center of gravity

Another one for 4" front 5" rear. Other options are rears up front and chevies rears.
