YotaTech does Alaska! - Official Thread.

Silly me....why do we have to have a separate forum set up for YotaTech members about an AK trip, on another site, that no one can seem to find, when we have a forum here, that has worked for over 3 years and happens to be named Yotatech?
Am I the only one lost on this point?

If it's at all even feasible the best bet would more than likely using the Canadian Pacific Railway and having your rig sent up to Edmonton. Edmonton to AK is MUCH shorter of a drive than Vancouver to AK.
Edmonton is the end of the line as far as rail goes. The northern half of Canada doesn't have any major rail lines.
Then from Edmonton to Whitehorse, it's about 20-25 hours driving straight through.
I'd like to see a 2 day side route from Whitehorse to Juneau (the most beautiful short trip hands down). Then have Anchorage as the final destination. If that's too much driving for some we could cut the final destination down to Fairbanks, but it's not as pretty

The ferry is a fair rate, as long as the rigs stay behind

Alaska
Wife and I are actually leaving for Deadhorse Alaska on the 27th of June 05 from Los Angeles on our 98 4 Runner. We are camping/Motels/Subway/Cooking on the side of the road, takin showers with a hose etc..Very little budget, we do not fish but we eat fish. No 4 off road expept if there is only offroad to our destination.
We have all the essentials including 2 spare tires.

Wow, it seem like it was just yesterday seeing that. Alaska is great. I plan on taking a road trip up there next summer and staying for a few weeks, maybe a month. If you guys do end up going up, maybe we could meet up somewhere.

The original link to the web page http://gotalaska.conforums3.com/index.cgi?action=logout does not seem to be working nor is gotalaska.conforums3.com.
Edit: Working as of 08/21. No posts since June?

http://www.akextreme4x4.com/ Check these guys out. When I lived in Anchorage I had a friend that belong to a all Toyota 4x4 club. I am sure that they would be more than happy to put something on when you all get there. Hopefully by 07 I will be living back in Anchorage. Oh I made the drive down to the lower 48 in Jan 03 in my 02 Chevy Cavalier. That I dont have anymore.

This trip would be absolutely killer! I have always wanted to go to AK, and what better reason to go then to do some wheeling? If there was any possobility for me to make it, it would definately be in '07 since I will be starting classes at Wyotech this Jan. '06 and will not be done till around March of '07 and there is no way I could miss that amount of class. I will defiantely be keeping an eye on this thread!

Wow, that trip would be awesome. Awesome pictures! I would love to go on that. I think I would have to have another 4runner by then though (something 4x4). Only time I could go would be summer '07 at the ealiest because of school. That's if I have $$. May have to wait unitl summer '09 after I graduate.
Sounds awesome! I'm definately keeping my eye on this.
