Washington Wheeling
So when are all of us Washington people going wheeling? I gotta fix my hub (I may have to buy a new Aisin hub
cause had serious issues with bearings melting blah blah blah...another story) anyways, i wanna go with you guys one day. So lets plan something for maybe december before the holidays, or something.

I will be available sometime after the 15th and before the 21st to go on a little trip. I am looking to acquire another rig to wheel mostly but also as a DD when my truck is in the shop (Badland Bumpers most likely) getting the SAS done. I am looking at something small to do battle with the Heeps, preferably a Sammi. Seen a few cool ones on the internet for sale on Autotrader.com and I hope to have one before I got to leave for CA for Xmas. Anyone else up for a little wheeling?

Hey Rome,
How much is Badlands charging you for the SAS? I've given up on Jeff ever designing a rear bumper for 3rd gens, haven't heard from him in a couple of months. I'll be in NH in the time frame you're talking about, but check out the Tahuya run in January, I think a few of us will be going on that one. I'd love to pick up another vehicle by then (FJ-40?), but my responsible side is starting to catch up with me, keeps whispering in my ear that I need to finish paying for the 4runner first....

David,
Jeff gave me a ballpark estimate for what I can expect to pay for an SAS. Basically the big number that I was interested in was the one for the labor costs. He told me in the neighborhood of $800.00 for the labor alone(SAS only). I still need to find an axle and get him to give me closer estimate on the parts (SAS kit is like $1749 at AP) as well as the rear suspension lift to match the front ($699 at AP) and then lockers (rear ARB or OEM Toyota and ARB front) as well as gears and installation $???.?? and crawl box as well as all the other stuff I didn't think about. My time frame is looking like February or so. I hope that I can get it done before I ship out for an overseas deployment that is coming up.:pat:

I'd get him to give you some type of fixed deadline. I was real happy with my sliders, less happy with my other interactins since then. Since the offroad stuff is sort of a side job for him, I'd be afraid your rig would be out of commission for a month or more. I realize a job that big is going to take longer than you expect, but if you're short on time, be careful....

David,
Thanks for the advise. However I too have had less than happy experiences myself. I have the sliders as well as the front and rear bumpers on my rig. The biggest problem that I have is the long drive all the way out there from here. I have made multiple trips out that way only to find out that there was some issue or delay that forced me to come back again. I am considering going someplace closer like Randy's Offroad in Marysville as well. I haven't checked into that place as of yet though. There was another place that did the SAS on "Anondrao's" rig that was in Arlington I think. I would not be too worried if it takes a month to complete the SAS as long as there are no unreasonable "surprise" expenses and I have another vehicle to drive in the meantime i.e. Sammi or another vehicle that I am looking to acquire next month!

Drop "Ducky" a PM here on the forum. He's from Marysville and may know about that shop or can maybe run by and get a feel from 'em.

Check out this place... http://www.sn-fab.com/ ...they make good stizzuff and have a huge shop. As far as I know it is a full-time gig for them. Dr. David, Mark, and I all saw one of their rigs on our last run to Reiter...very nice.

You can get into all sorts of different trouble at Reiter's. Jim can show the trail that we chickened out on...
There's probably snow in Reiter, which will make alot of those trails a bit more interesting.
