I'll share what I learned at Camp Jeep in 2000. The trails that weekend were run by a local off road club, a land owner allowed the use of his trails.
The best thing to do is contact a 4x4 club and hook up with some of the members for a ride.
If you haven't done much in VA yet, there's alot of clay, rivers, and rocky river bottoms. In other words, it's a blast! Good luck!

Runnerboy97,
I've been looking too and found this local club which I'm going to join: Capital Off Road Enthusiasts.
They do alot of runs in various trails in Virginia, check them out and their trail reports and pictures.
