Things to see...ND, SD, WY, MT and ID
We are starting to plan our family vacation for June. We are wanting to get away from the flat corn fields of Illinois and see/ do things we normally wouldn't. There will be four of us, kids are 9 and 12. We are planning on two weeks and we will be taking the 4runner. 95% of all mechanical stuff has been done within the last six months. I'm waiting on CBI to get back with me on a rear bumper, so I can carry 10 gallons of fuel for xtras miles. So far on the list is;
Sturgis
Deadwood
Badlands
Kids want to pan for gold/gems
Find some ghost towns
Any thoughts from the people who live in these great areas? Thanks

I like glacier national park in Montana. Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone national park. As far as getting off the beaten path there are tons of little historical sights in that area. I haven't got to them myself but will try in the next couple years.

Yellowstone is awesome. I wish I had more time there. The Tetons is simply amazing and I feel overlooked by a lot of people.
Rushmore is on my short list as well. I raced past it trying to get back to my ex several years ago...... I shoulda stopped.....
