Squaw Ridge/Pardoes Trail August 27-28 2011

Located in NorCal, near Lake Tahoe. Planning on this years Squaw Ridge trip to be on the 27th and 28th of August. Super fun trail that is challenging, but with bypasses around most of the hard stuff if you need them. Any 4x4 vehicle can do this. I believe its approx. 10-12 miles long, requiring an overnight stay at the halfway point. The trail runs along the top of the ridge and makes for some spectacular views.

This date can change if we need it to, Heres some pics from the last trip:

Still got plenty of time, get your mods ready. A locker, sliders and a mild lift are helpful on this trail.

Fairy and I recently was talking about this a few weeks back. The discussion for us was possibly the last week of AUG to do the run on a weekend and spend most of the week at mudd lake and for anyone who wanted to join us for that or leave after the run. Also do to the snow last year that had the gate closed which was not a big deal and the current weather this year which has a bigger snow pack than last year besides all that is our jobs after school lets out its clean clean clean from beginning of JUNE to middle of AUG. But who knows well see where it leads.

I see. We'll figure something out, I'm just anxious to get back out there. I plan on riding my enduro out there mid june to check out the snow situation. I guess that will be the deciding factor.

I am anxious as well no by passing the rock garden this year for me the rest of you went over. Got my KM2 32x11.5 last month just need to get them on and regear with the 4:88 I have but the front needs a new gear. Hopefully with no rain this week I will be able to do something on changing out the rear for the new shoes or just put them on and change out the rear diff when its dryer.

Wernt you running street tires last time? that was probably half your problem, you could be able to tackle that now. 4.88s will be nice too, Keiths gotta get some now too so he doesnt have to start his truck 10 times on the rock garden lol

well I have some bad news Stockwell. I am predicting your dates to still be snowed in. Current conditions are at 150% of normal snow levels. last year we were there in on the weekend of july 17th. the snow levels for that winter was sitting at 80%. I'm sure you remember how much snow was there still in July after that low snow percentage winter.

My self I would suggest aiming no sooner then the first week of August. Also the trail is a total of 15.2miles from either exit or entrance. If including Mud Lake as a destination, the distance is 16.1 miles.

If any of you have anymore questions, go ahead and ask.

Yeah I'm starting to think your right. Do any of you have weekends in August that you wanna suggest? Being this far out, I can get any day off that I need to, and I'm sure its the same for alot of you.

The 27 & 28 of AUG would work well I think for Keith and I cause its 2 weeks after school starts so should be no problem.

Sweet...I think I should be able to make it in august. Definitely think Keith is right about snow levels being too much in July. It was like 90* in sac and there was still all that snow in the mtns and the damn mosquitos...

I want to get some good wheeling time in this year if possible, so let's keep each other informed when we decide to go wheeling on a whim. More rigs the better right? I should be good for anything that's not between 6/15-7/10 - euro trip! I wanna make my way over to hollister sometime, Robert. I did the hard way to signal peak and part of eagle lakes last year - those might make for another run that our IFS rigs can go through.

I thought I would post of some info. from the trip last years in case anyone needs it.

http://www.gentryoffroad.com/php/tra...etrail/whokrz/

here is the link to were the trail exits.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...28195&t=h&z=15

this file will show you how the trail runs and wines through the mountains
http://www.filefront.com/15360375/squaw-ridge.kmz/

the link above will take you too where you can download the file.

you must have google earth to use this file. to get google earth click on the link below.

http://earth.google.com/#utm_campaig...utm_term=earth

once you have the dl (download) and google earth installed. double click on the dl file and google earth will open. on the left hand side of google earth you will see a cascading tree menu. scroll down that menu and look for squaw ridge. double click squaw ridge and a squaw ridge listing will open, it has three little red dots next to it. double click on the new listing with the three little red dots.

now you should see the trail marked out in red. have fun.

if you have any questions let me know

if you desire, here is the link to the former trip planing thread.
