cleghorn is essentially a fire road you cold do in a station wagon, however there is really fun "bypass" trails all the way up. some a re fun, some are tough and 1 i didnt try being the only 4x4 in the run(i might come up and run it with ya for that reason). it is very scenic and ends up at lake silverwood which is pretty nice to go have a beer by.
i ran down deep creek after cleghorn and it made a good loop. for a day ride.
any questions just ask specifics.

This was on my list of things to do, mostly for the bypass trails as mentioned. What time are you guys planning on going?

I dont htink i'll make it, rent due and Team Bad Habits is having a party saturday so i kinda want to be in town

The best meeting spot is at the Mcdonalds 1 exit norht of the entrance to cleghorn. plenty of parking and food and gas there. then you just back track towards fnLA to the cleghorn exit, go under the freeway and the dirt road starts right there, there is even a little trail # sign though i dont have the # on me. about a 1/4 of a mile up the trail there is what looks like a split, stay to the right, it will take you up some switchbacks and when you get to the top the fun starts
oh and yeah thats me in those pics.
have fun out there

My pics are here. There should be 3 or 4 more people with picts, including a great one of wheel stand I had going up one hill climb. I'm anxiously awaiting that pict.

That tightly walled in downhill was fun, i remember that.

Did anyone try the gnarly bypass that was a bout half way through on the right side, acouple big rock ledges and a huge rut right off the bat? that one i want to do!

Nice pics

There was one bypass that was too gnarly for us, probably the one you're describing. It was super narrow and rocky.
