Sunday 3/19? I'm in. I've been meaning to take a look at that country out there anyway. Where we gonna meet up? Too bad we don't have more notice on the rounds. CheaperthanDirt.com has .223 at 1000 rds for $140. I've got two 30rd clips (one shootin, one loadin...keep em comin!) and it don't take long to go through a couple hundred. I can throw in $40 or so for a case from somewhere local if anyone else is game. Got plenty 22's and the rest of the shells I would need.

Sweet! Thanks Bob! Cajun's probably right - this time it's too short notice to mail order. I could throw a good $50 or so towards ammo, and I'll have all the 12ga ammunition we can shoot. If we can get a bunch of folks to participate and each pitch in at least $20 or so, we can shoot all day. I'll stock up on Saturday and we'll take pitch-ins later, like at a kegger! lol I know coloradobound is up for some shootin'! (taunt, taunt)

Hey let's go!
I replaced my firing pin back to the OEM steel on the .22 and last I tried it was working awesome

We should really find a range that will take shotguns this time though...

Got the official OK from the wife last night. Now if the weather can just hold off. Denver news is saying rain/snow on sunday. Where/when we meeting up?

Hey shanks, if your up for going EARLY we could maybe try and call in a cayote or two before the real ruckus starts. I'll check more into the restrictions out that area but if your interested PM me.

I may be down for that Cajun. We'll see how many more people we can rope into this trip. Hey, there is a machine gun festival in Ft. Morgan next month. According to the flyer you can rent anything from .50 BMG Brownings to M79 grenade launchers and Thompsons...plus you get to shoot "reactive targets"...I'm guessing cars. I imagine you could spend a whole lot of money there. you probably have to use their ammo.

I've heard of those shoots before. Definitly an opportunity to relieve yourself of quite a bit of hard earned $$. I prefer to go and play with my own toys. Weather is still not looking great for fun shootin. Maybe we should do a no-rain/snow dance.

yeah, and we're not getting much interest in this. The folks at Cottora aren't biting either. Maybe we should wait, take the time to order some bulk ammunition, and get a larger crew. Hell, you and I can go shooting anytime. I may just go riding sunday instead you get your cat yet?

They're not gonna come. I'm still down. If it's just a few of us, we could set up some actual long range targets in addition to just plinking. I'd like to get my Mauser on paper.

No cat yet, I was giving it a breather for a bit. I might have to try again on Sat. if this thing falls through. I've found a guy with dogs, but I'd still like to bring it in myself. Weather may play into my favor with that. I'm still in for Sunday either way though. I really want to get out and check out that area. I may be headed out there this fall for some other hunting action.

I hate to bail on Sunday, but some family obligations just took priority so I'm gonna have to.

I have access to about 3000 acres of prairie dog infested ranch land.

I'd still be up for going. Not sure how many others want to still go.

MudMonkey, I'm in Scottsbluff all the time! I work with the CARQUEST store there. Next time I come up, I'll PM you and bring the AR!
As for this weekend, better plan your weekend Cajun. Sorry to bail out, but I think we could have a much better shooting trip next time, with better weather, and more preparation (i.e. more ammo). Let's start looking at a date in April.

MudMonkey, I dropped you a PM.

Coloradobound, looks like it'd be you and me unless anyone else chimes in. What ya think?

Wow shanks, slipped a reply in while I was typing mine. I agree on better weather making a better day for fun shooting. Plus, I would definitly need ammo if I'm gonna bring out the mini (mini-14, poormans AR, but still a kick in the pants to shoot).

Co-bound?

I love the Mini-14! That's an awesome rifle! How about we go in on a bulk .223 purchase. I work with a guy who keeps trying to get me to go to the Crossroads of the Rockies gun show. Apparently they hold it every couple months and the deals on bulk ammo are incredible. My dad's got his FFL, he may be able to get us a better deal yet. What brand do you like? I won't shoot the steel case Wolf ammo, but anything else is bueno.
