San Diego: Black Canyon/etc behind Ramona - 04.24.10
Heyo.
I'm headed up Black Canyon and into the bottoms along Santa Ysabel (Isabel?) Creek next Saturday with a few friends. A lot of the trails that were torched during the 2003 and 2007 fires are open again, and that includes creek access in a few spots, part of the run up Black Mountain and there might be crossover access to Pamo Valley's trails too. This stuff ain't radical - you can probably pull it off in a bone-stock four-by if you don't mind touching the pan once and a while. We're just adventuring around, seeing what's open.
9:AM in Ramona next Saturday (04.24.10); meet at the Kountry Kitchen - that's a half-hour out of San Diego proper. We're rolling out at 9: AM, so if you plan on breakfast, get there a half-hour early. They're fast, but not that fast. Email me for any more details or phone numbers.
Bonus - if you're with us Saturday morning, you can come along in the afternoon because I'm doing my radio show on off-roading at 6: PM. Find more info at "Garage Hour" on FaceSlave.

Plans are on, we are Go.
If you want to join us, we'll leave Ramona around 9: AM tomorrow, 04.24.10. Meet up at the Kountry Kitchen, on the 67 just north of the intersection with the 78. This is downtown Ramona, and if you want breakfast, get there before 9: AM - that's when we want to leave. There's a Chevron next door, with air and space to park.
We'll hit Black Mountain, Santa Ysabel Creek, via Black Canyon or Pamo Valley. It's about a three-hour run, a little longer if any newbs come along. Nothing radical, just fun in the dirt.

Shoot, sorry. Didn't check the boards this late. Busy fitting beers into my stomach at that hour. You should'a just showed up at 9: AM.
It was a good run, with all sorts of mud and rocks, with some danger and standard 2000ft-above-Ramona views.
We'll make another run like this soon - stay tuned. You can also follow my show at "Garage Hour" on Facebook, because I'll post runs there too.
I'll have good photos here soon, and in the meantime, tell your friends!
