Bruce, that would be awesome!! If you do get a shot of that, be sure to post it because even though I'll be missing out on the fun in-person, I sure will love getting to see all the fun in pictures.

But be careful out there!!

Bad news guys, I may have to bow out as well...

My church had a picnic/volleyball tournament last Saturday and I twisted in a bad position - heard some grinding and a pop from my ankle. It's not broken but a pretty bad sprain. I am only today (so far) able to get around a little bit without the crutches. I'm not sure if I'll have enough strength to operate the pedals by Friday.

We'll see! Keep your fingers crossed for me

oh man, Peter!!!

i used to box a lot, so i'd also jump rope a great deal in the evenings in our back driveway. one time when i was doing that ealier this past year, i was really really tired after doing it for 45 minutes, and my ankle gave out and turned and i heard a TON of grinding and popping ... and i laid out there on the driveway half-laughing and half-crying because i couldn't walk. it swelled horribly, and i couldn't put any weight on it ... everytime i'd take a step it'd grind and pop more. eventually i went to the hospital because i thought i broke it (it was swollen hugely and i couldn't even wear a sock!) ... they took some x-rays and i had torn nearly every ligament/tendon in my ankle apparently, but they said it'd heal by itself without surgery, so they just gave me one of those walking casts.

anyway, i hope your ankle heals quickly, just keep a lot of ice on there, sometimes alternate with heat if you are able to get a heat pad or something, and take it easy for awhile. lots of pain medicine like aleve (best for the muscles, but if you aren't used to taking medicine, take it a little easy on the aleve at first -- it's over the counter and everything, but if you take too much, it'll make you real sleepy). keep it elevated, too, and wear some nice, supportive shoes. do you have an ace bandage?? that'll help keep it stable. (i sprained my ankle so many times playing soccer)

i hope it continues to feel better, i sure would hate for you to miss out on pismo too.

want me to come operate the pedals for you??

Pete,

Gotta come, my man! As a fellow Asian brutha, I gotta give you some advice: RICE!!!

R = Rest
I = Ice
C = Compression
E = Elevation

Get an ace bandage, some ice in bags (or blue ice in bags), and wrap your ankle up w/ the ace bandage. You might want ot put a thin towel between your foot and the ice though.

Lay down, grab the remote and favorite beverage and prop your foot up higher than the level of your heart. The blood will flow downwards to your heart and the compression/ice will do its magic.

Having played alot of tennis back in the days, I had a lot of twisting, ankle injuries. Two days of this treatment and I was good to go.

Bob

yeah, this isn't the 1st time I've done this - 2nd time same ankle. The first time it was such a bad sprain that I ended up with a cast. Right when I sprained this one my first thought was, "did I break it?" took a look, okay probably not... 2nd thought, "oh crap, am I going to miss Pismo because of this?!?!?" We'll see in the next few days. In the meantime, yes, I'll be doing a lot of RICE. Depending on how I feel tomorrow I may just finish my bimonthly payroll report and just take sick leave for the rest of the week.

Ah... some more time off

Petey, you're just going to have to nail some plywood to your crutches so you don't sink in the sand. You're still coming whether you like it or not. Somebody kidnap him.

Maybe you can catch a ride with Bob or somebody. I recommend sitting in the back seat though, as bob likes to drive without pants. He says something about airing out or something???

Steve, don't you remember - it's all us asians that drive w/o pants. I hear it was you with the thong???

If I continue to heal at the current rate I'll be good by Friday. I'm not too worried about it. Besides, I have a hi-lift and some rims to deliver.

Last year we camped at mile marker 6 and we think it'll be a good location this year too. So...

Camp at mile marker 6.

We'll put up a summary post in the next couple days.

Lance,

I'm going to pass on the caravan. The wife wants to stop by the outlet malls so were are leaving a little bit earlier.

On another note, you saw the Michelin tires my cruiser has, do you think I can hang with those tires or should I get some Revos?

Cool, no problem on the caravan. I guess I'll have to see if Timber is going to stick around or leave early.

Those LC tires should be fine from what I remember. Just air down alot and you should be fine. I know you have that power tank so I know you'll have no problems airing back up
