Orange flag thingies...

are we required to have the extended off-road flag on the dunes? If so, where do you get them...?

Think we talked about this already, but this post is too long, and im too lazy to look for it... Its recommended that you have a 8' whip with a flag on top, but they wont pull you over if you dont have one. Its a good idea to have one though, there are alot of ATV's and dirt bikes out there.... stores that rent out ATVs sell the whips for a few bucks (but you'll have to figure how to mount it!)

Summary

Ok, guys 2 days to go. Here's a summary:

Website:
http://4runners.org/pismo4rj2/

Directions to pismo and cell phone numbers for Charles, Bob and me are on the website. If you can't get a hold of one of us, be sure to leave a voice mail. My reception is intermittent but I eventually get the VM.

We will be camping near mile marker 6 along the beach. You'll see some numbered signs as you drive along the beach. N35.06133 W120.62831

CB channel 4
FRS channel 4, no subchannel

Bring firewood, but no pallets and no nails.

Bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and ear plugs. The motorcycles and dune buggies go all night. The weather should be nice, but the afternoons can get windy. Be sure to weigh down your tents or else they'll blow away. Edit: It can get cold so bring warm clothes too.

There are pit toilets available. Bring toilet paper, just incase they're out. There is no running water so bring your own.

If I think of anything else I'll amend this post so check back.

guys,

off the top of my head, other things you should consider bringing:

- beach chairs
- your signed waiver
- garbage bags
- flashlights
- tire pressure gauge
- hat

the latest weather report says that its partly cloudy, highs in the low 70s and lows in the low fiddys. here's a weather link to wunderground.com for pismo:

http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/...mo+beach%2C+ca

a good hooded sweatshirt and a pair of jeans is good for the evenings. in the day time, shorts and t-shirts prevail for steve, don't bring your frilly bloomers this time. remember how mad miki got because the sand got in the washing machine?!?

looking forward to meeting you all.

oh and one more thing for those of you caravaning: maintain safe distance and don't be in a rush to get to pismo. for the lead driver, do not make sudden lane changes. exchange mobile phone numbers, etc. sorry to sound like such a mom on this, but just get here safely. the beach and the fun won't go anywhere even if you're a few hours late

Bob

As much as I would love to see one of those, I think I'm going to have to say no. I know of at least 1 mickey bomb incident with ttora at pismo a while ago.

I'd have to agree, that's just trouble waiting to happen. Bud, I've heard references to that incident on TTORA but nobody's quite explained it - what happened?

Things get out of hand pretty easily when you have a large group of people together playing with something dangerous - especially when there is no specific one person in charge.

Besides, I'm still healing my sprained ankle and the doctor emphasized ice, not heat

alrighty, let's squealch the mickey bomb talk. its all fun and games until someone loses an eye seriously, let's keep the liability issues on the low down and i'm not talking about steve's driving.

just as a reminder: you'll all be required to bring your liability waiver or sign it at the event.

aside from that party poop comment, lets keep it safe and fun.

Lance, Biff and/or Timber,

I know you guys are leaving from the SGV to Pismo around 630pm. Any chance you guys can pick up our out-of-state visitor, Jeff the Marmot? He's doing some work in Glendale. He gets out around 430pm. I would offer myself but I'm picking up Chris (KCtopher) at around noon and we have to head out to Pismo to set up camp.

The other stipulation is that Jeff needs to leave in the late morning on Sunday. That won't be a major problem because that is when I'm leaving and I can drop him off as well if you guys can't. I need to make one stop at the Camarillo outlet real quick, but other than that, that's it.

if not, its cool.

Can one of you guys call me at 213-435-2335 to let me know?

Thanks,
Bob
