like i said, i left at 1130 from manassas to get there at the butt-crack of dawn, and it was beautiful driving along the banks as the sun was coming up. you might need to leave at 1100 or maybe even 1030

I always belt it....speeding however.... I'll make sure i keep it cool.

Thanks for the ETA Ian, I'll have to plan my route and figure it out.

I really don't like driving for extended hours thru the night/dark, but if it means not sitting in a back-up...I'll just man-up and night drive!

You seriously posted on this tread to insult my home town? Thanks for contributing to my thread.

Merfal, sorry I was a bit sarcastic with that last post, and rereading it....

Well I am down here for the next week, and had my first sand driving experience in a 5spd....can we say 'frustrating!'
Didnt get stuck, just thought I'd be better at it, very humbling. I have aired down to 20psi, but working a clutch in the fluffy stuff is nerve racking.
Any tips for a newb in a 5spd?
Also refilling the tires with air after air down, seems air pumps aren't as plentiful as I thought they would be down here around Avon, waves, salvo.

Thanks

Everyone is saying it's harder to drive this year due to the drought! The water table has sunk so low that the sand is like powdered sugar. It sounds like you are doing it right! My 4Runner hasn't been on the sand since April and probably won't go again 'til after Labor Day. Too much beach traffic and the ever changing ramp openings/closings. I'm thinking about getting this from Harbor Freight. $24.99 plus 20% off coupon...

Yeah it's like powder in some spots. I wish I had the coin and time to setup my OBA. I was going to get a cheapy compressor like that but ran out of time. Not a big deal I found a station close to 23 that has free air.
Thanks
