I'm thinking about an outer banks trip including driving on some beaches, checking out some light houses and camping. Let me know if anyone is interested.

newest plan 19th and 20th

Travel to Cape Hatteras Island and have some fun driving on the beach sat.(no permit required) and sat. night have a bon fire. We'll probably check out Cape Hatteras light house and Okracoke light house as well.

If I was on the other coast I'd be all over that. I've got relatives all over them parts, one of 'em has a place on Okrakoke.

Another great 'wheeling spot is Carova. North of Corolla. It is only accessible via 4wd. Around MP 15 the Roads/trails start. there are neighborhoods that have "streets" Basically these are trails that run up and down the beach. Ther are dunes, trails, roads and random eater crossings.

We'll have to Carova out then too. Do you know if you are required to have a permit to drive on Carova? So far we have a 92 fj80 on 37's, 97 cherokee, chevy 1500, maybe a 03 taco, and my 03 runner.

No permit required for Carova Beach. Just head north on Rt. 12 until it ends at the beach. The roads behind the dunes start about 4 miles North of the access ramp (protected area from the access to the 4 mile post).
<~ Pic in avatar is from Carova Beach it is on one of the "streets" behind the dunes. Some really nice places to wheel behind the dunes.
Wish I could join you!!
Here is a link for you for some maps and aerial pics of the Corolla and points north 4x4 area. CLICK ME
