Ouray, CO August 11-14

I'm going to the San Juans Thursday the 11th through Sunday the 14th. We are camping in the Ridgway SRA state park the first three nights. Probably won't get to Ridgway till mid day Thursday. I haven't worked out an itinerary for trail runs but I plan to drive Engineer Pass, Yankee Boy Basin, Imogene Pass, and a possibly more. Let me know if you are going to be in the area, it's always fun having some company.

You are leaving the area the day I arrive, I'll be going over Black Bear the 15th (if it's open) on my way to Telluride. Don't worry there will be plenty of people on those trails, sometimes a few too many if you know what I mean. If you want more challange try Poughkeepsie Gulch out, it's one of my favorites. Have fun and don't get too close to the edge, a couple people died on Imogene and Black Bear last year.

That's too bad we'll miss eachother. I was hoping to meet some more Yotatechers. No one else is headed that way, huh? Everyone's probably saving up time and money for the jambo the following weekend.

Michael, I'd love to join you guys again, but I'm heading in another direction. Be sure to take some purty pitchers. Hey, I'm thinking about doing another Canyonlands trip in mid to late October sometime, among other places, if that might work in your schedule. I'm definitely going to Utah for the better part of a week, but haven't made an itinerary yet.

Dale, hope you have a great time, too. Black Bear has been open for a few weeks. By the way, I ran into a few of your friends a couple months ago: here, here and here.

Darren, I remembered you were headed elsewhere soon. We wanted to meet you down in Ouray the last week of July but it just didn't work. I hope there are still a few wildflowers to see. I'd love to go check out Canyonlands this fall. Let me know when you start making plans. Have a good time on your trip.

I am hoping to head from California out to Colorado either the end of August or early September to check out some of the trails I've heard so much about. Too bad you're going so soon; I would love to hook up with a small group.
