That looks like cabin 8 at the Tamarack Lodge. We stayed there a bunch of times. This shot is from 1/05. Our daughter is going to be staying in our fav cabin (deluxe #10) for her honeymoon in October.

bump for a kick ass trip coming up!

the campsite has been set. PLEASE MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS!

please look at the first post in this thread. find a campsite in the Oh Ridge! campground. The organizers of this trip are actively planning activities already. This trip will be well organized to allow people to participate in just above everything June Lake/Mammoth has to offer!

I highly recommend that all you guys driving up from the south stop at Manzanar and check out both the grounds and the new Interpretive Center. Try to watch the 20 min. movie that plays at the top of each hour. Manzanar is 9 miles north of Lone Pine, and represents a part of American history that should never be forgotten.

Agreed. A couple years ago when I was in High School we spent almost an entire day on the grounds. It was quite moving.

It's literaly just off 395; you can't miss it.

I won't be staying at the campsite; I'll be over in mammoth for the most part. For those interested in some good jazz while you're down there...

http://www.mammothjazz.org/welcome.html

I don't know too many of the groups, but Cornet Chop Suey is *incredible*. Titan Hot Seven is very good too. Don't know the others. (If they aren't fronted by a trumpet player, I tend to ignore them!)

They don't have the performance schedules up yet. I'll let y'all know when they do.

Those of you whom are interested in mountain biking, please tell me your skill level and how many miles (or feet ) of riding you would like to do. I will plan the group ride accordingly.

I love singletrack, consider myself an intermediate rider and wouldn't mind a longer ride.

It would probably be best if you PM'd me so we don't gunk up this thread.

Here's what it looked like on the top of Mammoth last weekend. Can you see the grin on my face?

I hope my wife and I will be able to join the YT group on this trip. There were already signs of spring around town. The signs on the mountain all say that the lifts will be open through July 4th though. If we come we'll come prepared with a broad selection of toys.

would this be something that I could bring my little son to (19 months)? is anyone else bringing kids? I'm trying to talk the wife into it and I think she'll be down for it if other families are going to be there.

This is def more like a family oriented trip. These guys are a great group to bring family with.

You won't be disappointed if you do a run with these guys. Death Valley with them ROCKED!

Thanks! I just booked site 53, for Thursday through Saturday. The boy has swim lessons on Monday so we have to shoot back on Sunday. I can't wait, it will be really cool to finally meet some of you.

Updated those with test reservations! Scott, I'll add you to the list on the first page w/ Mammoth as your accomodations.

Chris (slosurfer), will you be bringing your m416 trailer? If so, I'd love to check it out

Yes, I am bringing "rustbucket" I am currently getting it ready for our camping trip to northern minnesota and colorado. I am running out of time so I probably won't have it painted yet.

Boogyman, it probably was mine that you saw. It's the only one around here that has the thule moab basket.

I have a book that shows some of the trails in that area. Guide to Northern California Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails by Charles A. Wells. It lists 12 trails in the area from Bishop to Bridgeport. Most are easy scenic routes, a few moderate trails, and 1 difficult but that one is way down by bishop.

I'm in site #30 for Friday through Sunday nights!

Does anyone have this book:

Backcountry Adventures: Northern California (Backcountry Adventures) (Paperback)
by Peter Massey

I have the Southern California version and it seems good although I haven't really put it to the test yet. I'm test fitting my Garmin GPS Map 162 that's left over from my boating days. We could put some routes together before the trip. I also have the TOPO California series. My ultimate goal is to have a lap top installed, loaded with TOPO and FUGAWI, and interfaced with the GPS.
