Nor Cal trail suggestions???

Want to make a trip in May or April with a few buddies.... looking for a quiet place we can do some light to moderate wheeling into... camp / fish / shoot for a few nights without too much company. I am in the Sacramento area and trying to find a place where I will not have to travel extremely far.

I do not want to sell out anyones hidden spots.... but a PM would be rad with some suggestions. Maybe your second favorite spot

Thanks!

Depending on the snow conditions, Eagle Meadows on highway 108 east of Sonora, CA has tons of trails and has a few rivers and lakes mixed in there that are good for fishing. It is also home to the famous Niagra Rim trail. Also nearby is Beardsley lake, with many trails near that as well.

Kyburz was suggested and in that area are a few trails that would be fun although you might run into snow that time of the year.

Our club has an Adopt-a-trail up Silver Fork Road, Long Canyon Trail. That would be good for all the things you listed and if you need more you could continue onto the Strawberry Trail!

Silver fork road closes every season. I dont think theres a way to get in there to play in the snow unless you know of a back road.

Probably will be open in May, forest service has control over that. I do know ways in but you need to be built and with this statement from ENF "All dirt roads and trails are closed to motor vehicle use between January 1 and March 31. The Seasonal Closure may be longer if roads or trails are wet and susceptible to damage" most everything is off limits!

If you really want to get remote, I loved the back trails in the Modoc National Forest around Alturas. I didn't find any real wheeling to speak of, but plenty of roads not suitable for passenger cars and nobody else around for miles.

The High Lakes trail is always a good bet for solitude.
