MOAB help
In a few weeks, I'll be going to MOAB with the DU Off-Road club. (I'm VP) There will be around 6 to 8 4x4's going and we will have 2 days to wheel. I'm having a hard time thinking of what trails we should do because we have rigs of all different levels. One guy is even going to tow out his TJ on 38's which is quite the beast. I've already done Metal Masher and Gold Bar Rim at the M4R4A jamboree, so i'd like to try some other ones. Do ya'll have any reccomendations of trails for us to do that will allow lots of skill levels and fun side obstacles for the more hard core crowd to enjoy? Thanks for your help!

Thanks guys... good reccomendations. I think Pritchett will be too hardcore for our whole group to do. I dont even know if my 4runner could make it through that. Maybe we will split up or something. When I was in Moab for the M4R4A, the trails took us around 10 hours to do which was reallllly long. I'm thinking we will do 1 all day trail ride and the next day we will just do a half day trip. How long does Hells Revenge take?

Hells Revenge and Lions back is good combo. Hell's Revenge can be done in about 4 hours o longer depending if you take the time to mess around in the bowls, or the escalator. Hell’s Revenge is not all that hard, there are a few section were you pay attention to where you are putting your tires. Some of the off camber sections are fun for the tall tippy trucks.

Metal Masher and Hell's Revenge would be good, short fun barring breakage or traffic.
Fins and Things is supposed to be a good one though I never have been.
Gemini Bridges and John Bull Canyon are fun and scenicish.
With a lot of trucks at different levels, it is hard to make good way. If y'all know eachother and are used to wheeling together, you should be able to haul through everything listed but Pritchett.

We are now facing another problem, finding a tent camping site that is not booked. That weekend is the hotrod show so its going to be crowded. Any ideas on where to camp that might not be booked?

Hey Larry,
Metal masher would probably be good to do again if you didn't mind the repeat. I made it a lot longer than it had to be when you were there, you could stop a lot less and cut the time down. Steel bender is a good trail too, lots of optional obstacles to challenge everyone. If you are all camping you could head down and do Elephant Hill. Good trail and there are options for camping either in Canyonlands at the Needles or just outside the park for free. As long as the vehicles are all fairly reliable (unlike my old 4runner) you could do Elephant hill one day, then head back to Moab via Lockhart Basin. The Basin trail is a decent 2 day thing where you would camp along the way. I would also second doing Hell's Revenge, it is probably the best example of pure slickrock. PM or Email me if you have specific questions on any of the trails. Have fun.

We are headed to Moab the first week of June this year, been there the last 4 years and would die if I couldnt ever go again. Fins and things is just plane ole fun, as well as Hells revenge. last year we did Poison spider and loved the hell out of it. Just dont get lost like we did at one point. Good Luck and have fun.
