Around 11:30pm, just after I had gone to bed, my friend calls and tells me he was up doing some night wheeling up in the thumb butte area and he came across some guys who had rolled a Tacoma, he has nothing to hook a tow strap onto on his Cherokee and wondered if I'd come give them a hand. So, I head up there (lucky it's close) and when I get there, here is a white 2wd Tacoma, completely upside down... So I hook it upto my rear hitch with a tow strap and put it in 4low/low, barely tap the gas and the Tacoma is on its side, a little more and its on its wheels again (I love torque, it felt like I wasn't even pulling a truck
) Anyway, I just got back from that, it was interesting. The funny thing is, the Tacoma started right up, the only problem was it was leaking PS fluid. Everyone was ok, surprizingly, because one guy was in the back, and all of them were drunk and stoned, it smelled like weed when I pulled up:pat:
Well, just thought I'd share that

WHOA!
What a night indeed! That's too cool that you were able to pull 'em back over so easily
Any idea why they rolled? Just going to fast? Or were they trying to climb something or doing off-camber stuff? Last year I went up to thumb butte to hike the loop one day, and there was a full-size pickup completely upside down in the gully next to the Thumb butte picnic area, right there at the bottom of the hill. I guess this guy was just haulin' azz and couldn't make the corner - SAD. That's not a good place to be playing rally racer.

Yea I hated az brushes and weeds. Luckly my truck is desert dune so it wasn't that noticeable. Definitly sounds like a fun night you had. Now the question is, what would you have done if it was a jeep........

hehe, well considering my friend that called me down there has a Jeep, I would have done the same thing, to clear the road at least

Silver954Runner-
What fun! Many, many years ago, one of my buddy's launched his hot rod Ford 4x4 about 15' up and into a tree on Thumb Butte road.

Thumb Butte seems like a really popular place for people to roll, or launch their vehicles, sort of funny tho being thumb butte is a pretty smooth road.
A couple months ago the same friend of mine and I went up there late at night and when we came around the corner where the road to the right has the locked gate (if you know where I mean), there were tons of cars blocking the road, we couldn't get through. I guess there was supposed to be some sort of party up there but some girls rolled a Honda SUV (i think) off the edge on the left..
hehe, sweet, I'd love to

One more, lol. Another friend of mine was driving down thumb butte road in her Suzuki Sidekick before the road was graded.. and when she came around one of the corners she hit a bunch of potholes/washboard. The sidekick is such a light vehicle I guess she lost control and hit the dirt/rock wall on the right, at least it wasn't the other side, lol.
anyway, you'll get to meet her on saturday
btw, she was sober, and not going 90mph, hehe..
