Fall Colors Run

Last year we had a Fall Colors run in November.

This will be a one day event, unless someone wants to camp out up there Saturday.
I am not worried about ranger prick trying to ruin this as he did the YotaJam this weekend, as this is not a planned campout or anything, just a gathering of vehicles out for a days jaunt in the mountains.

No date set yet, but Joey (UKMyers) will be back mid September, and perhaps plan this for a Saturday towards the end of September, or early October, when the trees are starting to change color up there.

If it's a nice weekend, beautiful shots of Mt. Rainier should be in full view.

If you are looking for something hardcore, then this run is not for you.
It will more than likely be forest service roads 72 to 70, known as the "loop."
There are many side trails up there that can be explored as well.

Another area that could be done is up beyond the turnoff that has the bridge and campsites right below it.
We started to explore that area last July.
Yes, snow likes to hang around up at Greenwater, even into July.

We accessed that higher elevation area by going past the previous mentioned bridge.
Lots of high elevation areas to explore up there, and we found a road that will take you clear to Snoqualmie I think, up where that weather station is, can't remember the name of that pass there.
I'm sure Yoda knows the name of it.
It's where they take the weather readings up there for our area.

This run will give you a good view of Mt. Rainier weather permitting, and a good chance to explore the area and see what Greenwater has to offer.

Sounds good Joey.
I almost felt like going up to Greenwater this morning for a quick drive, but I have stuff to get done here, and reorganizing my camping gear, so I can fit it into the rig.

I have tons of camping gear, but most of it's from the days when I had my two tent trailers.
Gotta consolidate it so the rig doesn't bog down from the weight

Ya wade I know right where Benton City is. My dad worked up there for a while when I was younger. My brother lives near the Tri-Cities as well.

UPDATE

Okay here's the updated plans. I'm coming over to Tacoma to pick up the Runner on Friday the 26th of September. I am hoping that we can meet up at your guy's usual spot on Saturday morning SEPT 27th I'll leave the meeting up to Corey or anyone else who wants to take it on. I can't wait to get there!! If anyone's up for dinner Friday night PM me and we can set something up. I wanted to go out but I made a promise to my little sis that I'd let her tag along on this one.

UPDATE

Looks like September the 27th it is.
Meeting place is at the Safeway In Enumclaw on highway 410.
We try and push off shortly after 9 am.

Last year we did encounter snow on the 70 pass heading upto the top, but that was in November.
I doubt there will be any this early, but one never knows.

bump...

Anybody else planning to go? Usually, I have things going on when these trips happen. Things worked out this time so I'm going. It'd be nice to see a bunch of people there.

By the way, I think we've got at least 3 threads going on this subject. Any chance of combining them into one and making it a sticky?

Please do not reply in this thread!

Shane has stuck this one, and we should make it the main thread:
