I found out today, that there is a required tech component for our insurance. We're not going to skimp on it.

The basics for the trail/street class are:

Must have valid insurance.
Driver must have a valid drivers license.
Driver's AND passengers MUST wear a helmet on the course.
Each vehicle must have a fire extinguisher.
In open roofed vehicles, you must have a proper roll bar.
In solid roof vehicles without doors, there must be an internal roll bar.

For the vehicles that don't have insurance, you'll have to meet the comp rules.
These are much more extensive. You'll find them on our website at

Update on the rules.

Yes, there is a tech inspection - you can find the details on our website at www.faithwheelers.com.

Helmets are required for everyone in the vehicle and a fire extinguisher is to be available to the driver.

This event is open to all and it's FREE to participate or watch. You can get more info here and just follow the link for the obstacle course.

We have 3 events set up. There first is the Tuff Truck course for the big rigs. By big, I don't just mean large, I mean built. 33s lockers and articulation will be required to even think about trying it. The course starts with "hidden treasures" - a water hole 2'+ deep with a few rocks and holes under the water to keep you on your toes. Next is a crossover test or launch ramp depending on how you drive it. This'll only be an issue for lower looooonnng wheeler base rigs. There's a sharp banked turned coming up next, filled with water. You've all seen the Frame Twister from the Top Truck Challenge... that's next. Then you hit a tight right turn over a large log with lots of smaller rocks, but it's a really struggle for long wheel base rigs again. Are you ready for some skiing? The "mogules" are up next and will make even the flexiest rigs stretch to their limits. The trenches will keep make you work you rig. We've got 8 trenches at different angles and depths dug across the trail and just to make them more interesting, we're filling them with water as well so that you can't get a good look at the easy lines. You'll see the trenches just fine, but you won't know how deep they are! "Log crossings" are always fun, keeps the pucker factor up, expecially when you don't know how deep the drop off is if you slip off Last and certainly not least, the rock piles. Come test you and your rig on the best rock piles around. If you make it to the first pile, go for it. You should make it over - then think about it. The next pile requires that you climb over 2 cars just to get on. No one's ever made it past the 110' mark -so there's 40' of virgin territory.

Number 2 is the same style course, but smaller. It starts with about 200' of potholes (filled with water again so that you don't know how deep they are) dirt piles and short side hills. Once you get through "pothole alley" there's a sharp banked curve and into the mogules. Coming out of the mogules in another 150' of whoop dee doos. A short climb down off that and over the mini rock pile. We have a smaller version of the frame twisted, but the logs move around and of course a log crossing. Up next is another very sharp corner and down into "Jason's Gulch". Jason's the sick guy who built all the obstacles. These is a steep down hill with a real test of departure and approach angles at the bottom followed but a short, rocky uphill climb out, and right into an off cambered, rutted mud section. This course is designed for the less built rigs. All the obstacles are just smaller but every bit as fun!

Then of course, there's the mud bog. This is by far the best we've built - not necessarily the toughest. This is just over 200' long with varied terrain. It starts with deep ruts, moves into a section of sloppy wet stuff on a hard pan bottom and the thud, right into the wall of mud that peaks up above the water, that you have to climb up and over to get out. Then it's right back into a deeper muddy/sloppy section with some off camber twists and finally a deep hole and climb up and out of the mud!

We've taken care to build the obstacles suitable to the rigs that will be attending. We expect most of the rigs to be the typical pacific northwest trail rig. We'll have a few buggies and hardcore rock guys take a shot at the rock piles; we'll have a few massive meat, high HP mud truck eat up the mud bog. But for the most part, it's all the same rigs you see out on the trails. You won't have to worry about hydrolocking the motor anywhere - unless you drive stupid :thumbdwn: We have experiienced extraction teams to get you and your rigs safely off or out if you get stuck - and DO EXPECT to get stuck! While there's no way to prevent all the risk, we've done our best to make the courses as challenging as possible, while at the same time retain a level of safety.

There will be a tech inspection. Most importantly, make sure that you have good seat belts, your batteries are secure and that you have a helmet for anyone in the vehicle. If you're vehicle is open and requires a roll bar or cage, make sure everything meets the requirements available on your website. (These requirements are set by the PNW4WDA.)

We will have food onsite and a fantastic raffle - over $2000 in raffle prizes. You can see a list of these on our website.

The event starts at 11, but the gates are open at 10 to get rigs off trailers, go through the registration and tech inspection. We'll also have a 30 degree RTI ramp for those of you who want to see where you score.

Come on out and have fun. It's free!

The event was a great success, including lots of yotas. Unfortunately, not a single 3rd or 4th generation vehicle showed up. Guess they weren't up to the challenge - a little dig there...

Here's a few pics.

Another Toy. He beat my 112 foot run to lead the challenge at 140' until both birfs broke.

Hey Gibby, how about some of those video links from Jim's forum?
I just watched the 20 MB one of the obstacle course and it was pretty cool.

At the event, someone one a prize that we didn't have on hand. We've not been able to locate the winner since then. If anyone knows who won, email me at info@faithwheelers.com if you know who it was. If this is you, email me with the prize that you won. If it's right, it's yours!
