Evan's Creek Carnage

A friend and I went out to Evan's Creek yesterday to play and well........

HiLift jack came in handy.

I bumped my truck there too but was able to back out and get a new line and on a different section I got my front fender a bit......minor.

Yeah he slid into the tree. In the first pic there is a hole/rut right under his tire he slide into. If he would have backed up and got a new line he would have missed that. His AT's did good The bad part is he has a set of MT's in his garage for trips just like that

After we jacked it away from the bank that is was he did. Had he done that when the truck was setting against the bank........ It may have ripped the bed off.

Ouch Ben.
Time to give Jeff a visit at Badland Bumpers in Ravensdale.

That might have prevented some of that.
Was that trail 311 you were on?

Not sure if sliders would have kept him off that.

It is trail 198. We accessed it form 520, across the road from the campground entrance.

Here's the secret to getting by that spot. It's known as the Seattle Pushup.

Picking the correct line on that spot is critical. Someone cut out the root ball at the end of that obstacle that made it a LOT easier however. It was on the right side just as you're getting out.

For the Noob and guys that haven't run those trails, there is is kind of an offshoot of the trail. It's part of the trail now, but there are 2 separate paths to get around this. We took a completely stock 2nd gen 4runner up there 2 years ago (except for this TRD shift nob). He did 311 top and bottom with only 1 rocker panel ding.

That truck could have made it through there clean. Kudo's for trying it though!

Sliders might have helped some .. but not that much. The roots would have still clipped him ... ouch

We ran that trail last summer and though my truck didn't make it unscathed (my Thule bars caught on an off-camber section of trail and ripped the roofrack with fully loaded cargo basket right off the roof) one of the guys was driving his 2002 pretty much stock 4Runner and didn't get any damage at all. (He did lose his "Truck Nutz" when they struck a rock and got ripped off~but he did get them back.) My sliders came in handy in a lot of places that day since they make great pivot points when trying to negotiate a turn in a really tight spot.

I was the one driving that stock .o2 4Runner with my daughter. I am very lucky that I only received a dent on my rear bumper. Oh... Thank you also for everyone's watching out for each other. The NUT is back on and I get plenty of funny comments about it. :-) It was fun and it was a very good experience for me wheeling with you guys.

(PS: Message edited cause I think what I wrote earlier would offend some. Thanks.)

You may have just been joking around, but you can still trust those who say that 311 is a mild trail. I realize that the rating on that trail is "Most Difficult", but here's the discrepancy. This is a trail, not a road. As far as trails go, this is mild. As far as roads go, this road would be treacherous.

Here's where I agree with the don't trust part. Whomever told you to take your $40,000 2002 4Runner through that trail should have made it VERY clear to you, to expect the possibility of damage. If you're lifting your rig and building it for offroad, then there's almost an expectation that you know and understand that. But, if you're stock, you should have been warned.

I would've strongly suggested that you and your daughter hop in another rig and ride. I drove that trail as my very first offroading trail. I learned the defninition of pucker factor that day.

Shane, I've had to look at this about 10 times to see if you right or not. You just might be... None of the pics are from the same angle. The one I'm in looks deeper, but it's hard to tell.
