Do I Have a Chance of Making it???
Sorry this is not and offroading trip but its gonna be on heck of a trip.
So starting around 5-6am on Sunday my friend and I will be traveling up I-80 from around Sacramento CA all the way to Walla Walla WA. which is in the southeast corner of WA. We are coming up in 1985 or 87 Datson Z (with chains of course). Class starts on Monday, so its gotta be done in one day. So who thinks I have a chance of making? With the existing weather conditions what do you guys think is the best route? I-80 up to Winnemucca NV then get on HWY 95 to I-84 up to Pendleton which is about a 45 minute short drive to Walla Walla, or go the I-5 route up to Weed CA. then take 97 through the middle of Oregon to 84, drive over to 730 up to 12 and into Walla Walla. I know I-80 is currently closed through Placerville County but I'm somewhat thinking it will be plowed by Sunday, in which case my friend and I will obviously have to take the I-5 and 97 route.
I'm hoping the worst of this storm has pasted and I'm pretty sure we can make it one way or the other. Anyone Know how fast traffic is moving along these routes? How bad has the weather effected traffic speeds on the roads?

I have driven from the Bay Area to central and eastern Washington many times in the winter (folks live up there). I usually take I-5 up to Weed, CA then take 97 up through Oregon. Only hits about 5000' and once you get off I-5, it is usually smooth sailing.
