Welcome to the board!

Which Bald Mountain would this be in reference to?

The one by Red Feather Lakes, you gonna make it? We went up there a month ago and there wasn't enough snow yet to make it really fun, Brad.

Well if I'm gonna go for 3 weekend trail runs in a row, I probably should! I haven't done much of anything up there, which would explain why I hadn't heard of this one. Are there any online reports on it, just to see what it would normally offer? I searched the local boards, but got nothing.

I think there is a write-up on www.4x4trails.net, but anyway it is a pretty easy trail except for the last 1/2 mile or so is alot like Castle Gulch, lots of larger boulders, it should be a fun run, so far we have 5-6 trucks going, a few of us have winches and chains so hopefully we'll make it to the top, Brad.

4x4Trails.net was the first place I looked, but it has nothing on it. If it is like Castle Gulch at the top, that would be awesome, but I don't know how high up this road goes to know if one could make it that far this time of year.

So, has there been a time set to meet somewhere at all?

I am seriously thinking about coming up. Keep in mind, though, that I am probably a good hour and a half away. Are you and the others all in the Boulder/Ft. Collins area, or where? Are the rest of the guys Toyota folks, or a mix?

Anyone else wanna trek up from Denver with me? I'm also thinking of trying Castle Gulch on the way back, time permitting, and providing I can remember the turn-off.

Yeah it should be 3 FJ-80s, a Blazer, an S-10, and maybe a couple 4runners, were thinking 11:00 in Fort Collins for the meet up time, one of the guys going is from Longmont and the rest of us are in Loveland, the plan is to make it to the top, but depending on the snow we'll see what happens, a few of us have chains and winches so we'll give it a darn good try, we plan to meet up at the Albertsons in Ft.C on the corner of Willox and College at 11:00, hope to see you there, Brad 970-290-1627.

I'd love to, but I'm meeting co4Runner at 11:00 at Park Meadows to exchange a CB for $60, and then doing the mall thing. Don't know how far I'd make it with the running boards back on (at the request of 5'0" Leslie).

Rich is lost, very lost!

Yeah, Brad. I'm definitely up for a road trip tomorrow. Gotta find out about this new trail for me. I'll try and be there right around 11.

Hopefully, this map looks right. I'll be sure to search more before I leave to make sure I find the right place.

Yeah that's it exactly, if you've ever been to Jax it's about 2 blocks north of Jax, see you in the morning, Brad. 970-290-1627.

Cool

Well, okay. At least a couple people told me they wanted to see a report and some pictures. So, here you go.

First of all, a big thank you to Brad for finding this forum and for letting us, or at least myself, know about this run. I met some good folks and I'm sure I'll be wheelin' with you more in the future, especially to show me a number of other trails up there that I'm not familiar with. Again, I had an absolute blast on Saturday. Your 80 is awesome and flat out huge! Good stuff.

This run up to Bald Mountain was my first real snow run, in that there was a substantial amount of depth in places. Very fun to say the least. Ziad, you really missed a good time, bro! Here's some pictures you wanted to see:

Following Brad's 80 on 37x12.50 MT/R's, with custom 3-link rear out of Ft. Collins

Through the woods

Brad at the bottom of a very icy hill (also the next picture below)

Who said it was all work and no play?! Brad found time to get some sledding action in down this icy track!

Back to work it was, as we needed both Brad and myself to pull out the 80 behind me

The most challenging part of the day proved to be one of our other guys getting stuck half off the road and getting him turned around so we could head back. Told ya it was deep!

Well, I guess I'll keep it short here, but here's my official report with the rest of the pics. Enjoy.

Adrian, is this more of what you were expecting to see here this time of year?

Brad, let me know if you want any full-res pictures and I'll send them your way. Also, you might want to edit this thread, or the title specifically, indicating pictures have been added. Later!

After that run I wasn't sure I'd be ready for another snow run for a while, but you pics reminded me how fun it really was, now I can't hardly wait until the 28th to do it again, thanks for the report Darren, talk to you soon, Brad.
