We had talked about it before but I had not had the opportunity to show her around. Her experiences out west have been restricted to Albuquerque, NM and she did not enjoy that much (no offense to the NM guys, long story ). We are still looking around at other places but right now that area is in first place. Once I take her to northern AZ, Wyoming and Montana I think she will be sold on that part of the country.
None taken here, Albuquerque is a "special" place, for sure... Good luck on getting everything in place to retire, Lance. And if you need any info about any other places in NM, let me know.

Two guys I went to high school with took a look at it this weekend and were quite impressed, both with the quality of the appearance and with the content. We hung out after that and whenever we passed some big rocks, they were like, "Could you climb that?"

Unfortunately, my mother also saw us watching this, right at the point where I was a little off camber at Whale Rock in the middle of getting abused. I think that it finally dawned on her what I do with my truck when I go West looking for rocks. She wants to watch it all when I come home for Christmas. I am going to show her the buggy and hope that she forgets my truck is in there.

Steve, I am curious, does your son like the whole thing, or just watching you because he recognizes the truck? JackHandle, Upper, Lower and Martinez on the weekend of the 10th? Provided the engine holds up of course.

When I was putting them together, Peter, my 2 year old, was the same way. He especially liked the music videos. They'd finish and he'll immediately start repeating, "more...more...more" until I turned them back on. Then he'd bounce his little butt up and down on the couch in glee. (I imagine Adrian does the same.)

I know you asked the question of Steve, but as for my son, I don't think he recognizes our truck so much (especially since there isn't much footage of it on the DVD) -- he just likes watching the trucks. I take this as a sign that I'm raising him right...

...and next year we'll make it a video game!

I can see it now:
"Test your spotting skills on the "Yoder Rock" level !!
Keep your axle intact on "Whale Rock" to see if you
have what it takes to conquer the mighty "Double Slab". . .
or will you get beached like the rest??"

No fair telling people how I always watch this like a little kid. This summer was like a crack addict living in the ghetto but then getting stuck in rehab. I have been thirsting for another hit and this video allows me to get my fix while still being here without big rocks.

If next year's comes out as a game, I will only get a copy if you have a good animation of Steve getting pissed off! I will no longer spot unless asked to.

We'll have Dolby 5.1 with "Slow Down!" coming out from random speakers.

And then there'll be the arch-villian, the "the desert spanker" --> (actual animation will be better)

Don't worry, there'll be a cheat mode where you'll be able to do anything and the the desert spanker won't get pissed.

Both kids do know went my truck is shown.

It's the stock looking one.

Adrian, sure, we can hang out there and run all the trials.

You probably want to do a totaly kick ass one in Tucson.

lol, Steve. You are hilarious man! That's gotta be your new tag line... MR.SLOW-DOWN.

Really nice footage and thank goodness for my Playstation 2. It only worked 1 out of every 5 tries on my JVC DVD player and not at all on my Technosonic one (that usually plays everything my JVC won't). Plays perfectly on the PS2.

Good job on the video, Mike.

Al, I'm sorry you had trouble. It seems that the newer players really have an easier time playing recordable DVDs. And it doesn't seem to matter if the player is expensive or not. I'm considering buying a new player, myself -- probably something around $50.

Don't break the bank. Do you have a Sony PS2? DVD and Game thing. We never play games on it, only watch movies.

We have ATV off road fury that we play once a month or so.

I've found that one DVD player is never enough for the various formats (original DVD, burned DVD, VCD, SVCD, etc.) That's why I have 3 incl. the PS2. I used to have 5, but gave 2 away.

No worries, Mr. Sandman. At least it works in one of my DVD players, that's the important thing.

Well I just finished watching the disk, wow! great footage. My buddy Rob (Robt2k) let me check it out.
I will be going to visit my brother in law next year in Leadville. I am going to try to plan the trip around the 2004 CO4RJ if it is going to happen.

Don't worry Steve, I will go slow!

I think the talk is that next year this "CO4RJ" group is going to go to Moab UT instead (possibly October '04). That would be a little bit closer for you. If we do have a CO4RJ in Colorado (and there has been some talk of it), it llikley will be a smaller event, probably more attended by Colorado locals. (That's what I've heard on the board anyway.) But if your brother-in-law is in Leadville, you probably would be close to wherever we'd be. We'd love to have you!

I'm glad you enjoyed the DVDs!

I posted this off-topic on another thread, so I might as well copy it to this thread where people expect it.

Most of the interest seemed to be for a gathering in Moab next year. Around September seems likely for Moab. I've been checking into the BLM requirements recently. We will have a max number of people that can attend that event since the BLM requires a massive amount of organization, fees, insurance, and pre-approval by the BLM for groups larger than 40 or 50. And they impose huge fines per person if they find out and it's exceeded. So we'll be staying under that.

It's possible that there'll also be a small CO4RJ event during the summer. There was some interest expressed in that by some locals last year. In other words CO4RJ might split into a Colorado event and a Moab 4RJ. But that Colorado event will probably be a really simple camping trip over some weekend unless someone else wants to take it on and build it up into something more.

The time of the year for these gatherings in Colorado and Moab is largely dictated by weather in each area. Colorado is best in July or Aug. But Moab is way too hot in the summer and it's best in Spring (but very busy with other 4x4 events) or late Fall.

After reading thru all the post I just had to order the DVD! If I get my runner finished by the next event, I may have to attempt the run. I've already seen the teasers at SteveO's website, so I'm sure I'll be very impressed with it.

BTW Mike, I know how much time an effort it takes to do a production like that, so I was more than willing to shell out the $$ without hesitation........
