CO4RJ DVD Reviews
#21
Donna just read all these posts, and she said that now is the time I should let the cat out of the bag. I must disclose that I inserted into the DVD subliminal messages that make women desire mods.
Those customer testimonials are awesome! (Yoder, let's see that PayPal entry!)
(Donna also said she wants to see more women show up to the jamboree next year.)
I assume you're referring to the giggling, and I think I should probably weigh in on that -- especialy for those who weren't there but are seeing the footage.
You kind of had to be there, but basically Martin ignored anyone at the jamboree who tried to spot him or give him direction/warnings. The "tree footage" you're referring to was taken on day 3, and it was getting a little annoying, especially when Martin got himself mashed into that tree. At that point, the situation had gotten almost comical in its absurdity. You could either get angry, or you could just laugh. I don't know if that's a good excuse. But I know none of us had anything personal against Martin, and I know that none of us delight in seeing anyone get into trouble on the trail (unless it's Steve). You kind of had to be there.
Then you can return to Ocotillo Wells' blow sands hill in style!
Steve on an ATV... hmmm, Steve, are you aware they don't go SLOW?

Yea, I suppose I need to buck up and buy a copy. My wife will still think it's a foolish sport. People standing around watching other people tear up the trail and their vehicles. It's unfortunate that my next mods are the expensive ones. Gears and a rear bumper. It's going to take me so time on those.
I do agree with Schaefer on Colo. having more need for a front locker because of the looser, slicker conditions. But, it still seems like icing on the cake. Gears, armor, 33's and a rear locker on our runners take us over the obstacles that seem appropriate for us.
Yoder Rock, the way it is now, is just to big for anything on 33's. After examining it again on Sat., you would high center yourself every time. There is no perfect line. That's no fun. It's just too big for our rigs. I congratulate you guys for doing on my account though.
Now whale rock is the perfect extreme obstacle for us (with a front locker). I've seen video of two different Cherokee's take it. Were' narrow enough and long enough. But, even so it would still be too risky for me in my daily driver.
We must go back.

I agree with you Scott, it seems that the front locker is icing on the cake rather than a mandate. I sure have liked having one on the stuff that I have done there, but I would rather be crawling with an auto so that I could still stand on it if need be.
SteveO, what is this no solid axle thing you speak of, I expect nothing less.
Good call on the subliminal messages, gotta show this to my folks with something along the lines of "See the buggy where all the tires stay on the ground. I have lifted tires and it is scary, but easily fixed."
Schaefer, if you get ATV's, then you will need a trailer and something to pull it. Just think of the other cool things that you can put on a trailer...

Now that's the kind of enthusiasm I like to see in my "customers."
(I hope it meets his expectations... two hours later ->
)
Rob, what kind of work do you do for Toyota?

SteveO is crazy, but also one of the best spotters that I have ever wheeled with.
I am just polite, that is why I said Yes, sir. I say that to pretty much everyone who is not an age peer and even to them some times as well. I beached him on that rock and felt bad, that was part of it too.
I watched again tonight and I think Jerry lifts his passenger front on the first optional obstacle on Holy Cross.
The reason Schaefer says slow down is because being able to go as slow as he does make life a lot better. A couple of times, I drive two footed and go pretty darn slow, but the crawler allows it to be sustained.
SteveO, I have heard different things about the streetability of radius arms. They are easier to install and flex like mad, but they don't drive well unless done really great. Leaves are tried and true, make steering easier and still flex great. There is a good thread on PBB about a bed bob on a Taco, but you also see his front swap. It is a Cruiser axle. Sort of interesting, eh?
When Martin talked to that tree, Lee and others said some funny things. We were not laughing at the situation, as it was quite abysmal, but rather at the circumstance.

I was so excited that I instead of reverse I shifted into drive while trying to back out of the carport to go to the front office.

I'm glad to hear you weren't disappointed.

I'm proud of you.

"Well, that all depends on what the definition of 'circumstance' is..."

Watched a little more while waiting for roomies to head out for supper.
You can really see the benefit of the front axle being forward on the solid axle rigs. More firewall clearance and better approach.
The situation, talking to the tree, is bad. The circumstances, not taking directions, driving away from the trail, trashing the truck, were bad. The applications go out over Thanksgiving, I am getting excited!

Winsconsin rust forever embeded in Florence Junction Rocks.
I was thinking if you come back we can camp out there and run:
Upper & Lower Woodpecker
Jack Handle
Martinez Again
Coke Ovens (since you have not been there)
Oak Flats
What ever else

I've sent out close to 20 of the DVDs, but you'd never know it reading this thread. Did anyone else watch it? Or are they just not reading this thread?
Schaefer, did you enjoy it? I think the most footage is dedicated to you. Did anyone enjoy seeing Steve hang out the window and sing on Whale Rock?

I've watched some of it, I have been way busy lately.
But the parts I have watched are awesome! Thanks for putting that together. I liked seeing the action on Iron Chest, since I didn't see it first hand.
Good Stuff! I can't wait for next year!!!
