I don't know if we will make the trip, as our club is running Grizzly Lake trail on Sat. 8/20. What a coincidence, also, the local Bronco boys are plannning on running Holy Cross on Sat. 8/20. Too many decisions on what trail to run.... They are planning on camping at the lake. But, since we just ran Holy Cross last Sat., we will probably end up at Grizzly Lake, depends on the family and how our 6 wk old baby girl is doing. She handled Holy Cross like a pro, no whines or whimpers from her Holy Cross is about the same, getting worse. The obstacle above the "city" is really Bad, only big boys need apply. Witnessed two rolls on that obstacle alone. Long wheel base and big tires a must.

Cracker, I'm planning on going to Grizzly Lake on Sat. also. Not sure how many others will be going, but we will see you up there. I plan on getting in on some fishing there.

Hey Can we move the Bypass Chinaman to Sat and we can hit that after Iron Chest. We'll catch up to you guys.

Also we need a Wheeler Lake run Sunday, because it looks like we'll hit:

Friday: Holy Cross above the city. We'll be haulin
Saturday: Iron Chest & Chinaman's (Arizona Style, multiple trails in one day)
Sunday: Wheeler Lake so I can wheel with Aaron and show Casey the trail.

Cheese, respond...... or I'll spoon you..............

I need scenic leaders.

Right now, the only thing that is purely set in stone is Holy Cross, Iron Chest, Chinamen's in that order. It could be one day, it could be in three.

Scott said he would lead Chinamen's with bypasses and I appreciate it. I am not sure who will be willing/able to do Wheeler Sunday if we do it on Saturday as well.

Jeff is leading Iron Chest. That should go quick with the rigs in question.

Anna is planning a BBQ Saturday night. I would like to be in camp at a reasonable hour for that. We could night run Chinamen's after that.

I am at a complete loss for scenic leaders who have done the trails. I have done none of them and do not get the impression there are a lot of scenic trail people, but I want there to be something for everyone.

I also would not be against meeting in the parking lot every morning and saying one open diff here, stock here, not stock here.

No spooning.

I'd do Wheeler Sunday. Holy Cross is too much (too long and too hard) for the final day. Wheeler is very scenic.

Moderate interest. Not as big as two years ago.

I need to know who is coming when and how many people are staying. I have slacked on this a little, but need confirms. Thanks to those who e-mailed, but I need more notice. I have to give the campground a headcount.

Wheeler Sunday, fine. Or at least two runs at it. That leaves people trail less unless we do two runs at it and that sort of defeats having it a mixer trail.

Deciding some of the easy (or moderate for that matter) runs at 8am in the parking will work Adrian. We can have options available and work them out based on who's there ready to go. I basically like the 8am meet and go idea. Especially to beat the crowds on a Sat. am.

Moderate - could be:
Friday - Grizzly (me for sure)\Antero\Baldwin Lakes\Hancock Pass\Pomeroy\Italian-American Flag Mtn. - All are options and accessed from the same valley.

Sat. - Chinaman's w\ Bypasses - meet Schaefer on the way out.
Sunday - Wheeler -

I personnaly think this trail swapping is crap - especially for those of us who planned the days they are attending based on the trail schedule posted earlier.

There is no way to please everyone.

I still think Chinamen's with bypasses needs to be an option. I think that it could be asking for disaster doing it all Saturday if we are going to have a BBQ.

I will neither plan nor attend next year.

Actually I am sticking to the schedule:

Friday: Holy Cross

Saturday: Iron Chest & Chinamans

Sunday: Me, Aaron & Casey (All from ouf of state) are going to Wheeler Lake, outside of the event. We are all from out of state and have traveled a very long way to attend and I want to see it again and I want them to see it too. Certainly you can understand if a couple of guys drive 1000 miles, they might want to see some senery. This we will do on our own, people can come if they want, but 3 trucks on that would be nice. We could even pickup something else over there that is near by. I bet Jim will come too. Maybe even Brent, who knows.

I would imagine most of the locals will bail out Sunday and drive home anyway.

This run:

"Sunday- Chinamen’s bypasses closed"

Is not going to happen because we're gonna hit it after some other run or at night. No way it will be on Sunday, it will already be done.

Cheer up it will be ok. Think of it as like Moab, we do what we can and make the best of it. We'll have a good time regardless.

Back in 2001 all of the 3rd Gens were basically the same, some had more bolt-on's than others. Now we have mutant vehicles that have been cut up and re-built. They are not really 3rd Gen 4Runners anymore. So the same formula year after year will not work.

They are not all the same anymore and the trucks are getting old. Why not take the modification up a notch.

One was an early Bronco w/ at least a 100" wheelbase, another was a 85-89 (?) Toy pickup, no bed, looked to be stock length on 38's(?). I think the Bronco was not really trying to be aggressive, while the Toy was doing an improbable line. The last was a Bronco II, he flipped it on its side while playing on the first tough obstacle on the trail, below the water crossing.

Speaking of scenic trails, Williams Pass should still be open. It is a very nice drive and can lead you over to the Alpine Tunnel. You can come back over Tincup or take the long way around and come out on old Monarch Pass.
