CO Spring Creek Sunday May 27th

I'm going up to spring creek this weekend. It probably still has some snow, but should be clearing out.

Meet at Downieville Gas station at 12 noon.

This run is stock to slightly modified friendly. Stock, i don't recomend running boards, and i recomend some experience. If this is your first time out, probably not a good trail for you. But, if you've been out on some dirt roads thus far, this road will be a step up, but not too bad. There are some optional obstacles that are suitable for built rigs.

I run trails in such a way to try and maximize everyone's fun. If you don't wish to drive something, not a problem. If you need advice, or have a question, please don't hesitate to ask! I want everyone to enjoy themselves, and not feel pressured or uneasy. I am excited to meet some new folks, and hang with some of the old ones!

I drive a fairly stock 1987 4runner, it is silver and black. CB Channel 4.

I only ask you bring a lunch, clothes for both hot and cold weather, and a good attitude.

I hope to see some folks up there!

I wish I was going to be in town! I don't think you'll make it more than a couple miles, but it would be fun!

Spring creek pictures from September: http://4wheelingoh.shutterfly.com/ac...21b33d9d6d451a

You might be able to make it to the first obstacle (which has a bypass) - a steep rock slab:

The trail is VERY scenic:

The rock garden at the top is TOUGH, and the bypass (through the trees)isn't so great either:

(although there is no way in hell you're gonna get up there!)

I forget how high the top is, but it is HIGH. My truck would hardly run up there!

The way down kinda sucks, but supposedly there is another way down:

Sounds like fun. I was looking for something to do on Sunday. It might be pretty clear, I guess we'll see. I doubt we'll make it to the end.

I think the first and second obstacles will be open.

The third and the rock garden will not be.

Well, according to CO4x4, the first and second are open. Last two are definetly not.

I'm just looking to get out and play a bit, probably only a couple of miles of trail here, so if you don't feel like spending the gas, i understand. If this is still okay, then sweet. I'm open to some suggestions as well, but not looking to go too far. I'll be posting up another run for next week that i want to save gas for.

Sounds good to me, I was going to do Slaughterhouse alone, but I rather go with you. Doesn't Cascade Creek connect to Spring? Or Red Elephant Hill is close too. I'll be going mild if ya don't mind.

4 obstacles?

The first one is the slab, and the last is the Rock Garden right?

What are the other two? I remember one switchback that was a bit interesting (don't have any good pix of it), so maybe that's one - what's the other obstacle?

BTW - the first obstacle is not that bad at all with a front locker....

In your honor Ric I'll be sure to place one front tire on every rock and take a picture of it from every angle.

first is the slab.

Second is right after the shelf section, at a turn in the road, some rocks, and a couple different lines.

Third is the 180 degree turn with the big rocks.

Fourth is the rock garden.

Cmadness, we will see you there at noon. This will probably be short, but it will still be fun.

Anyone else?

^Same here. I've got a BBQ in the afternoon/evening, and dirt biking in the morning.

What are you thinking about for next weekend?

Is this still happening or are we going somewhere else. I've been following this on Rising Sun and see the bad news. Yeah gas is through the roof, but the way I see it, it's spring and nothing is going to stop me from hitting the trail no matter where it is.

i am still going. I was hoping to see more response from rising sun. I get around 25mpg, so gas isn't a big deal.

Ok well I'm down for some fun, if it is short lived though can we try something different instead of just playing in the snow?

I'd be down for anything really, tired of wasted weekends that could be spent wheeling.

I don't play in the snow. I don't like winch fests, which is why i stayed in all winter.

I know this trail pretty well. I'm fairly sure we'll be able to spend a couple hours up there.

If not, we'll see what people are up for, and we can head somewhere else.
