I dont have class on friday Oct. 7th, so i plan on taking advantage of the 3 day weekend and head up the Barney Riley Trail that weekend. camp at the end of the trail at the hot springs and go wheelin all weekend long. trail info can be found here http://www.norcalttora.com/trails/barney_riley.php it seems like a pretty easy yet fun run. i am going to try to head up thrus. afternoon and get a spot set up. there is ALOT of wheelin to do up in tahoe area. i just haven't been able to get to it yet. let me know if anyone wants to join. family friendly as always.

 

Maybe. If I do, it'll just be for sat sun. Too bad it's not the next weekend, a bunch of xterras are going.

bump... i think i am going to head up friday morning not thurs afternoon. let me know who wants to go and we can figure out a meeting spot. i can meet at the trail head if you are coming up later on sat or sun.

 

I'm about 90% sure I'm in. I wont be able to get up there until friday night most likely.

 

any updates from anyone? my buddy can only make it a day trip, so we're leaving friday morning going up there, playing round and he's coming back but i think i am going to stay and do weenie wheelin by myslef waiting for any of ya'll to show up.

 

I am not going to be able to make it. Just found out that I have family coming into town this weekend.

 

I'm out. I might be going up the weekend after with some xterras if my friend can fix his truck in time.

 

I think I can make it for saturday and maybe sunday.I live in Carson City so it's really close.

 

ok my GPS software is messed up so i had to do it via google maps... like i have said, i have never been up here before, so i am going on what my GPS shows as trails. this appears to be the closest trail head that leads to the hotsprings. there appears to be a TON of trails to play around on, (read get lost easily if you dont have a map) which should be really fun.... this trail head should be a good meeting spot regardless. its on Highway 4 appears to be about 2.5-3 miles east of the junction wiht 89. the road/trail is named Cannon Loop Rd.

I have NO idea on cell service up there, its kinda near S. Lake Tahoe, so there *might* be service, but i am leaning more on the no side. I will have my CB on all day/night. I will be on Channel 4 since i dont think alot of people if any will be up there to interfer wiht radio traffic. at this point it looks like Blakpuc and Jedi87 are going to be going. what time do you want to meet at the trail head? should we shoot for like 1030-11ish? my buddy thats goign up wiht me on friday can only make it a day trip so i will be camping by myself friday ngiht... and depending on trail conditions i might just head out wiht him to the tail head and camp closer to the highway, (if there is the possibliy of me getting stuck on my way down to meet ya'll sat morning.)

 

I'm about 20 minutes from the trailhead.I am playing it by ear at the moment so I'll try to get back to ya asap.The is some cell service but in certain ares there isn't.If I go I can bring some 2 ways.

my camera broke so i have a couple but havent loaded them on the computer yet. the trail was gnarlier then i was expecting or at least the route we took we pretty nasty. we took another way out but ended up finding ourselfs on the wrongside of a locked gate, luckly some hunters drove post us no mroe then about 4 mins after we arrived at the gate and they took us into town to find the sheriff to let us out. the more i think about it, the more i think it was in my head and i'm pretty sure i could have made it out the way we came in. but i;ll get pics up later this week.

 

I've got a few pics but it'll probably be a week or so before I can post em. I have yet to develop them (I'm old timey like that)

My club will be doing our bi-annual trail cleanup on Oct 22nd at sourgrass trail on Hwy4. I'll make a big post about it later. It's a very good newbie run in which stock vehicles can make it.

 

let me know that sounds fun...and the 22nd is open for me too
