Back from AZRocks!

Two weeks in the Arizona desert, back less than 12 hours and I miss the sun already

AZRocks was a blast! 100 or so Tacoma's, brought together in the desert by the Arizona chapter of TTORA for three days of wheeling and camping. The trail runs were nuts and the solid axle swap rigs made many of them look pretty easy. That is, up until Axle Alley. 6PM to 5:30AM the next morning. Body damage, shattered axles, burned out winches, 15' rock faces, boulders the size of Honda's... what a blast! I got pretty good at swapping out Dana 44 axles shafts that night

Anyway, I am 1300 emails and countless posts behind schedule, so if you have mailed me in the past two weeks, bear with me... I will get through it.

A few teaser photos are HERE. Time to start collecting parts for the SAS.

Welcome back Rob, glad you had fun in the sun

I'll check out the pics in a bit.
Have seen a few vids that Xtreme Mike took, and saw a pic of you driving a white Toyota.

I thought some of you 4Runner folks might enjoy seeing this, so I squeezed it down from 40 Mb to 4Mb. I am not sure who did the original shooting and editing, but I would be happy to give credit where credit is due if someone would fill me in. (all the AZRocks posts are blurring together)

I believe Mike from Xtreme Off Road did that one. He posted it before on here and 4x4wire. It's a great video, and the music is pretty cool, too.

Looks like the Tacos had fun, too. Man, those are some STOUT rigs in the pics you posted, Rob.

Indeed! It was awesome to share some of that BBQ and sit around the campfire with you. Next time I will try to solidify my plans a bit more so I can hang out with you more. This time I was constantly running to try to fit in everything I wanted to get done.

I did manage to pick up a great set of spurs in your fine city 'though... so my 1880's tux is just about complete.

I have done that drive a couple of times, but I flew down this year and rented a car. For next years event, I am about 70/30 in favor of driving. I am just not convinced I want to use up that much vacation time driving through some of the places between here and there.

Ahhh... Thanks for the tip. I wondered if that might be Mike's creation but the author field is blank in the info section of the video.

Mike, if that's yours, I hope it's okay that I put the squeeze on your art and compressed it down a bit. I tried to introduce myself to you at AZRocks, but you were headed out on a run and were a bit pre-occupied. I didn't see you again after that I had hoped to pat you on the back and thank you for the deals you have been giving me and the folks up this way. Your rig looks GREAT! I got a chance to crawl over and under it and love what you have put together.

Brown - There were some killer rigs there. Those boys really know how to build one out. It's really got my wheels spinning with new ideas

My! You are an agressive one now aren't you? hehheeh

I am still building a "greatest hits" for publishing to web. I have close to two gigs of photos to sift through and life keeps getting in the way of my wheeling related stuff ;(

I should have something in the next day or so.
