Yes, but extremely well done. Pretty much stand up and say: "Hi, hows it going?"

Hmm that would be and interesting sight.
Anyhow as Rob said the Lower Coyoto canyon trail was challenging (for me at least). There are a few easy stream/watercrossings along the way which made a pretty cool ride. My skidplates got a beating, I am in need of more clearance (plus alot of other gear!). Had a great time though.
Have a great trip this weekend.

Have a Great Time

I've been going to Coyote Canyon since I was a kid and it's a beautiful place. Coyote, Cougar and Sheep Canyon all have oasis' that can be hiked to if you want to stretch your legs.

I've actually seen a 2WD Tacoma TRD make it up lower Coyote. Man was he bouncing big time. It was pretty well stacked that time but still impressive.

Sorry I can't be there to meet some out-of-Kaliforniers.

As much as I'd like to be there, it doesn't look like I can make it out there.

I was really looking forward to meeting all you guys but unfortunately I have some things here that I need to deal with.

So all you guys have fun and be sure to post lots and lots of pics!

if for some reason dave's fab on the front end doesn't allow for the skid, i should still be the first out there, and i'll bring beer just in case...couple 40's of old english, right?

i have a ton of pictures, just ran out of space on my server though. trying to find somewhere to host them besides webshots ( i hate webshots).

dave, what is this iron gate??? sounds like something that wants to eat my sheet metal.

and for those of you that know lower coyote canyon, somehow one of those new vw towrag suv's made it up there.i'm gonna try to make it out there fri morning, so if anyone wants my cell phone, pm me. mnboy may get out there thurs, so look for his 1st gen pickup also.

We have a few questions for those of you who have been there:

What type of campsite is this? What to expect? Are there outhouses?

It it raw desert camping or is it an improved campground. I just want to know what to expect.

What are the temperatures out there this time of year? I'd imagine like AZ but I could be wrong.

here's the forecast from the weather channel:

Thu
Oct 23 Mostly Sunny 90°/56° 0 %
Fri
Oct 24 Partly Cloudy 88°/56° 0 %
Sat
Oct 25 Sunny 88°/57° 10 %
Sun
Oct 26 Sunny / Wind 86°/57° 10 %

as far as th campground goes...

there is a state maintained building with 5(?) toilets on one side, and 5 showers (?) on the other side. those are the only facilities that i know of. there are a few sites that have picnic tables and canopies. other than that, basically just pitch a tent on the ground. ther are no hookups unless things have changed. other people may have better info, i think feartoy was there this last weekend.

Camp site: Ocotillo Wells SVRA
-State maintained restrooms & showers. huge off road park centralized in anza borrego. quick access to almost any trail out there. lots of trails to explore within this SVRA as well.
-GPS coordinate: N33.15113 W116.16782 (entrance to park)

Trails: I think they have a full day planned for Saturday. Hopefully there will be some "optional" sections for you, me and Joe if he makes if from Farmington.

Cool, I'll see you guys out there. We are going to leave around 8:00am AZ time, so we'll be there when we get there.
