First things first I guess. Start with the hike, and then the run in oct. If you want, I can bring out the rope and gear. We can find a spot and mess around a little. My priority is to scout out the trail and take lots of pics.

Hey could we set up a carpool for the hike??

I think a car pool makes a lot of sense. I can drive and pick some up on my way so that nobody has to go west to go east. Make sense?

What is the recon/hike date?

When/Where should we leave from SD?

Well, I'll be at a 50th B-day party in El Cajon that day (please don't ask - it's work related) Where's the friggin cake? I gotta go. I'm thinking of leaving there @2:30 to make it to Mountain Springs Rd by 3:45/4. I'll be happy to pick up anyone along the way or even meet someone at Carl's in Alpine to carpool. I would suggest leaving SD somewhere around 2/2:30.

Maybe you could meet Mikey in OB and carpool up there.

Eric,

I think we'll be crossing paths somewhere when you approach the 8 East so maybe we can meet and also catch up with Rob as well.

Beerdrinker,

Where in SD will you be coming from?

Good thing is, traffic will be almost nil considering the time and day. This should be fun!

Well I got my wires crossed for the hike trip. I will be on an airplane on my way to Michigan for a week to see the parents with my son. He has never been to MI so the wife finally talked me into going back.

So I cannot make the hike trip in Sep but will be at the Oct run!

Brad (spaugh) and I are gonna try to do a carvacre run Sat morning. 9th of Sep. It may be closed. Nobody seems to know for sure so we are gonna find out. Just a last minute deal for us. Called Josh. Marc. Ryan and they are all busy. I am meeting Brad at his place at 0800 tomorrow.

Reason for this run is to see how my little boy will do on a short easy run. It will be his first time out there. Any takers give me a call or PM.

Sorry for the tread jacking.

Sorry but I will only thread jack one more time. Carvacre is open and it is getting a bit harder than I remember. We had a good time up there. Got some bumper damage from pancake rock but no big deal.

I will check for the before pics but I already fixed most of it. I took the bumper off and hammered it for a couple of hours and used a hydrolic jack to bend the mounts back into shape. Then I angle cut my tailpipe and shortened it about 3 inches and figured a way to raise it an 1 1/2". You know me gotta have the Runner looking good. Brad has a welder so maybe I will make a Bruce style rear for it soon.

Funny because both you and Marc have already called me on my done moding comments.

I will post some pics today

Gas tank skid. Easy to fix. Not the case witht he gas tank itself which has a pretty good sized dent in it.

It is not too bad now. I should have taken pics before I fixed it.
