I think if you guys bring this guy, you'll be ok-

That will really help out if you get stuck or something, he can just pick up your truck and move it along.

I'm in for a mid Sept hike, looks too rough to bring my girl though, so I'll just go solo. If Josh comes, it looks like there are many places he could rappel from if he wants to.

Marc has the new huge tires now, so this trail should be no problem right?

Let's see.....the run is in mid October and it's now just September. That gives you plenty of time for those Chevy rears and new fronts. That and the flip-kit and you're ready for testing. Oh yeah I forgot to mention the 36 Interco's. That freakin' list never seems to end.

I'm down for wrenching. Kinda sucks that only Blacksheep and the Fart truck will be able to do the trail. Oh well.

Maybe there are some fireroads or something in that area that would be scenic. I have no idea where this trail is, but if it's near the dez there should be a couple roads around.

There are at least two trucks from TTORA that will be attending........so far.

There are some roads nearby that you might enjoy pre-runnin'. Mostly on the east end by Ocotillo. If you are making the hike on the 16th I'll bring some Topo's you can check.

You guys still down for Valley of the Moon after the hike?

Oh Yeah Ryan - your avatar kicks ass. Could've sworn that was sdgirl.

I didn't see any problems with it. Wonder what's up.

There may be a possible Inland Empire run in mid-October to Devil's Canyon so there may be more trucks than we think. I'll look into it.

here's some more info from the Just Runs club

Some of you may have heard of the “new” trail in San Diego County- Devil’s Canyon. It is actually an old road dating from the late 1800’s. It goes from the Ocotillo area up to Mountain Springs Grade. I heard about it Friday night, and Just Runs member Ryan Hudson and I ran it on Sunday along with a friend of Ryan’s. We decided to take rock buggies, since all accounts of this trail are that it is pretty hard core. The trail lived up to its reputation. My prayers have finally been answered to have a seriously difficult trail in our area. I plan on hosting a run on it as soon as it cools off (our run on Sunday was exceedingly warm). I posted more pictures in the Non Club Runs Photo Album (the last album in the Just Runs Gallery). Check it out. I think this trail will be a 4 going downhill and a 4+ to a 5 going up hill.
FYI I was stopped by a ranger as I was heading down the trail in my rock buggy. He was surprisingly quite friendly and had no problems with us being in the area as long as we stayed on the trail.
Get your rock skis, lockers and winches now!

Some people had problems with it because of the wording, but it's cool. It's nothing to piss of the mods about.

The trip is shaping up, I like it.

Hey Beerdrinker
Will you be joining us for the October run? It would be nice to have someone out there who has run it before. Did you just run it going down?

I think I will be hiking too...found another writeup...

Re: Devils Canyon Trail

I was actually the first person with 33s to complete the trail, I did
need a push and a winch in about 2 spots, its definatley a very
difficult trail, I ran it with Vern and Steve, The two who found the
trail, and worked long and hard to make its current state, barely
passable, Vern contacted the BLM and it is legal to wheel the trail,
but please dont trash it, try not to stack rocks, if you do kick em
out of the way, to keep this trail difficult, and keep it clean so it
stays open!! Front and rear lockers mandatory, I wouldnt recommend
33s, 35s are realistic, I Bent my front drive shaft, Tie rod, lots of
body damage, But it is a blast if your into some hardcore wheeling!
Vern tried to keep it a secret, but then it ended up in Petersons
4WD!!! Im sure getting in the mag was well worth it though
