Is it worth it?

Hello everyone first post here. Found a pickup that im thinking about buying.
http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...gIndex=1&Log=0
heres a link to see some pics I got the seller down to 4900.
Good: New Pitman, Idler arms, rotors, ball joints, Rust free, solid frame

The Bad: No Ebrake, Broken interior door handle, 190k miles, exhaust manifold leak, leaks oil (unknow cause), Creaking noise during test drive when flexed for ex going over a hill where fronts on flat ground and rear isnt. Unkown if timing chain was replaced or when clutch was replaced.

What do you think? 4900? I think its to much im very hesitant.

That's high to me. Is it at a dealership or a personal sale? It looks like a small dealer to me. If so, ask how they're able to sell a truck that won't pass inspection. Point out the bad e-brake and exhaust leak specifically. I'm sure they'll come down quite a bit more once you ask them that. Then check all the fluids: brake, clutch, coolant....everything. Find some dirty fluids and tell them you want them all changed before you buy it. He'll probably come off the price more because he'd rather get it off his hands than put more money into it.

The problems are definitely fixable and the body and interior look good. The frame, I'll have to take your word on that so all in all it's not a bad truck, but not $4900. You get him down to $4000 or lower and I'd say go for it.

It is a small dealer and has no warranty from them. They were asking 5400. I brought up the e brake issue and they said they could not find a replacement.
I tried to get them down more and they said they would lose money if he went lower. I was hoping for atleast 4300.

When you want something you try to make excuses so you can get it so I had to get another opinion haha thank you.

Toyota frame creak&squeak, that's normal. As previously stated, mention the exhaust leak and other things, and ask him how long he has had it, and you wanna see the carfax. He's askin too much. I'd walk in with bout 4500 cash, and I'll bet he'll take it....

way too much $ imo. too many problems, and it's a standard cab. they are worth less than an Xtracab.

It does have the paint job going for it. KBB was 4300 and that was in excellent condition, with every option I could think of listed.

Has no gas cap either when I mentioned that he said I could get one at autozone cheap, which I thought to myself if you are selling a car you should go and do that yourself then.
He says he has other people calling, so well see. But, he says hes taking a loss if he goes cheaper and he cant do that. I wanted to make sure I wasnt the only one that thought 5k was to much.

Red face

To Much Money !!

The fact they did not fix the e-brake was cause they did not know how.

If they will inspect it perhaps $ 3800.00 not much more.

Screw that. That is asking way too much for that truck. you can always grab an Ebrake from a junk yard. A gas cap maybe only $15. Door handle maybe $5 at a junk yardvv but it sounds like it needs some work done. i wouldnt pay that much just for a nice paint job. I'd much rather get a truck that runs perfect and then have it painted at a shop. I agree with the rest point out the bad and try to get it for cheaper. I wouldnt pay any more then 3500 for it. You gotta bring cash so they can see it. i'm sure they'll go cheaper if you did that. Usually when you finance is when you cant bargan like that.
Good luck bro

they hit that engine a bit hard with the pressure washer...

why isn't the e brake working? broken cable? are the pivot points at the backing plate seized?
where is the rear bumper?

for what they want the truck should not have leaks or a non functioning e brake.

It is a $3500 truck

I'm thinking 3500 TOP DOLLAR. For the money, surely you can find something much better and needing less work.
