What's my truck worth?

Please be nice but give me a small explaination of why you believe it is worth what it's worth. Ok here is the break down. 1986 Toyota pickup extended cab auto 4x4. It has 194xxx
miles and brand new cooper 31s. No
issues at all. Please let me know if I
need more info thanks
Timing chain done 1 year ago.

Where you live?? Effects the amount of winter chemicals

Timing Chain done Last ??

It is worth how ever much someone wants to pay.

Myself I have no need of anymore 4x4 Toyota`s at this time.

I would sell a 87 4Runner that has new clutch Rebuilt W-56 new rear springs 4 shocks only a few thousand miles.

Depending on the tires @ $1000.00 Brand new tires would add another $600.00 or so

You need to get someone really excited about what you have

We all look at different things give me function over being pretty any day.

Around here in California, that would probably be a $1300-$1700 truck. If it runs and drives good with no major leaks (and passed smog), the miles are not much of an issue. The paint, the big dent in the bed, the seat condition, and the fact its an auto are whats dropping the price.

Wow I'm surprised about the pricing. Maybe Georgia is a little different. I paid a lot more for this truck 2yrs ago and it was in worse shape. I couldn't find one under $3000 within 300 miles of my house. They are asking $1500 for one right now without a motor down the street

Oklahoma is different to. Don't know or care about Peoples Republic of California. Put a cheap seat cover on it and clean it up a little more and that pickup would bring 3k quick where I live.

Wow, way to sound like a jerk for no reason...

OP asked what it was worth, as in right now. Not if he dropped a little money into it to clean it up and not just in his area. Had those been specified, the answer would be different.
There are lots of toyotas for sale in my area and the ones that are priced high are either in good mechanical shape with good paint and body and good interiors or they have been for sitting on craigslist for a long time because the owner thinks his beat up pile of an old work truck is worth its weight in gold. The ones that are priced right for the condition they are in, usually sell within a day or 2 of being listed.

I understand the PRK reference, but this is not a gun board. Cali actually is pretty good wheeling State, and a whole lot better than NY, so lets move on.

It should bring at least a grand more than you paid for it. Pound out the dents, clean it up with a rattle can, give it a bath and it should move. Here in NE you should get that easy for a rust free.

Helpful info guys thanks keep it coming. I have been looking on craigslist a good bit to see what others are priced at for a while but it's hard to see how many are selling at certain prices. I've seen really nice ones priced at $5-$7000! Obviously these trucks are nice with good interior and paint ect. But I've also seen hunks of junk not running right for $2500. I was hoping if I cleaned it up I could get $3000 or $3500. It's a great truck and I've done a lot to it over 2 years just need a bigger truck.

As long as it moves and the 4wd works that would go for 3500 or so up here. A two wheel drive would probably go for less than a thousand though.

Looks like a decent truck. I'd say you could get a solid 2500-3000 for it to the right buyer. If it were cleaned up a little and take really good pics, you'd Be on the high end, maybe more. I don't see it getting into the 4k range unfortunately. Might even consider taking off the bumper and selling separate, it won't really add any value with it on and that might net you another couple bills. Unfortunately autos dont have the same demand. Working AC and no rust will help a lot though if it's got them. Good luck with the sale.

I will agree with highonpottery, addons like the rear bumper might not add to the selling price like you think, better off with stock bumper target the other to an off road enthusiast for a couple of bills addtnl. One more thing I would like to add, things you've done to the truck that are not visible like tires, better have receipt for the parts or labor invoice because other than that is just your word for it... Recently I've sold my DD(not a truck BTW) I got exactly what I was asking for it because I could prove with receipts and such all I have done to the car over the years.

I just put mine up for sale. And I saw the same thing. I'm selling mine $2000. One guy has his down the street for 1000 and has no motor which is insane others selling them $4000

Have you considered a dump trailer? That is a really cheap way to add capacity and have the best of both worlds.

keep looking at Craigslist for comparable trucks. Here in TN like your seeing in GA there seems to be an insane demand.

if this is a 2k truck in our region, your is like a 3k-4k truck (if you add a seat cover, lol)

Then don't If you have the option, get a 2nd car or something for the passengers and keep it. Just seems like they will keep their value at this point forward. Dunno how old your kids are, but 3rd gen pickup is another option since the jumper seats have belts, no good for teens and adults with adults up front though, but doable.
I've thought similarly to you - want my truck but passenger space is needed, esp with car seat kid. I have other passenger vehicles, but it HAS crossed my mind to go crazy with modification and do a custom double cab with v8 swap. Might be smarter just to sell it and buy a Tacoma 4dr, lol. But it would be unique!

Yea I have one that's a little over two and one that is 3 weeks. But I do have a Honda Civic that is a 4 door I drive so I can technically make it work..... I thought about selling both and getting a newer 4 door truck....but I really do love my truck!
