US Branded rebuilt?
Looking at a truck here, 04' taco double cab,3.4l, auto, 38,400 miles, TRD, but only bad is its US branded rebuilt. here in canada i know what they are but are they the same there? wrecked faily bad and rebuilt? should i stay away or just look with caution to try see how bad it was? if it was done right it should be okay i'd think. just has looow kms and is decent price for here. thanks

Having a rebuilt title means that the insurance company looked at the damage and figured that it was 80% of the value. If you get one that was rebuilt properly then it is not a big deal, but make sure you look it over with a fine tooth comb. I have seen some that are missing airbags, hack wiring and shoddy bodywork.

looked at it. was in amazing shape. also only has 38750 orig miles. couldnt belive how clean it was underneath for an 03. works well he does a lot of them so im kinda leaning towards it. but im stuck between it or a newer ford ranger...for the same money

see if you can track down some records of it. my dad bought a rebuilt truck and contacted the seller and eventually was able to get some pictures of it after it was wrecked. make sure before you get it that you get it up to a decent speed, because sometimes wrecked vehicles will shake at a higher speed.

Hey now... i'm a backyard guy that doesn't slap stuff together
. My stuff is done right, it drives my brother crazy, every bracket/wire/nut n bolt back where it came from. You should see my Saab, swapped motors in that and you'd never know it, my other 2 toyotas too for that matter. Seriously though... rebuilt titles are sometimes a joke. I had my previous Saab totaled out after hitting a small rock and setting off the airbags, not a scratch on the car, stitched the dash and steering wheel back together w/some leather and drove it for 3 more years till the tranny went.
My '95 PowerStroke... totaled after breaking off (more like ripped off) a front shackle and damaging the front diff, $600 in parts and it was good as new.
I'd be cautious but wouldn't think twice about it as long as it's nothing too major and was repaired right, maybe have an outside party look at it. Just make sure it's not Vitals' backyard bubble gum guys
